Where: Middle of the woods

Why are you still standing here? Get out now!
[A small boy no older than ten flinched at Asch's shouting and shrank behind him. The redhead, heaving for air, paid little heed to the child and raised his sword. His attention was focused on the large, dark animal leering down at him. He stiffened but instead of fleeing or backing up, he stood his ground, glowering back at the creature while waiting for it to act. The behemoth, impatient, bellowed as it charged its newer and larger prey, dropping from its bipedal stance as it ran. Asch knew he could not outrun his target, so he stayed in place, only to duck in the last second and slice his blade through the creature's underside. The behemoth cried and lost its balance for a moment. Asch darted out of its way as it fell, then took advantage of its lowered guard to strike another blow, this time, on its shoulder. The battle would proceed far more smoothly if that damned monster was short a limb.
Unfortunately, between its immense size and its thick hide, the behemoth only suffered a minor wound as Asch's sword wedged itself stopped short a few centimeters from the bone. The former God-General tried to pull his sword out from his enemy, but only to realize that such a feat required more force than he had initially thought. Even as he braced his feet against the monster's side, he only managed to to nudge the blade from its position. By the time he started to make progress, the felt an impact in his side before he crashed to the ground. He stayed on the ground, crumpled in a heap on his right side. At first, between the shock and the adrenaline, he felt surprisingly numb. He groaned as he got to his feet, then hissed at the pain that suddenly erupted from his right forearm. He looked down at his arm and attempted to move the aching limb, only to be punished with a searing sensation that thwarted any further movement. Brow furrowed, he forced himself onto a knee and looked up at the behemoth.]
[Asch jumped back as the behemoth's hand plunged into the ground. He ran up to its side and made a swipe with his left hand for his weapon. Then, he ducked a swipe at his head, then ran out of attacking range. He stopped, winded, then raised his left hand and gathered fonons. A red ring of energy formed at his feet, dancing faster and more intensely with each passing second.]
Bring all to ashen ruin... [He lifted his hand above his head. ] Explosion!
[On cue, a ball of fire dropped onto the behemoth. Once it made contact, it erupted into a blazing explosion with such a great radius that the approaching behemoth could not escape the blast. Asch distanced himself again and began drawing in third fonons. This time, however, the behemoth caught onto his strategy and bolted toward him before he could begin the incantation. Asch ducked, dodged, and ran, trying to fit in any sort of possible spell.]
(I can't even fit in a spell.) [He shot a glance at the wide-eyed child watching the battle. Asch sucked in breath and looked at the enemy.] (...I might have to run. I'm being paid to protect and rescue the kid...Damn it! )
[His thought process was interrupted when he realized that the child was no longer standing where he had left him. The redhead then heard a cry and looked over at the behemoth, his eyes widening as the boy shouted a strangled battlecry through tears and sniveling. He had not yet reached the behemoth, yet he was already waving his weapon of choice, a stick. Asch growled, then darted toward the boy, tackling him out of the trajectory. Moments later, a clawed hand slashed at the thin air that they had occupied seconds earlier. Unfortunately, the behemoth was towering over them, and between the nearby trees and their compromised position, the two could not move in time to flee. Asch sat up and pulled the boy close to him, minnd racing for a solution to this mess, but his time was running short--the Behemoth moved to strike.]
