[He tilts his head to the side a bit.] A kid, huh? Nope, not the guy I'm thinking of. (Thankfully.)
(Damn, I'm going to have to meet with him anyways, won't I?)
[He tries to mask his disappointment with a smile. It ends up being more of a smirk.] Hey, why don't we get out of here? Wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea, now would we? [His tone suggests otherwise.]
(It's weird. We're from different worlds, but we're not that different. She knows what religious mania is. Fffft, she's even wearing a sword! Small universe, much?)

[Cantabile almost laughed. Almost. Instead, she settled for her own smirk.]...Yeah, what you say is right. Dragging a woman off into a forest won't look that great on your record, especially if she's never seen again.
(I'm half surprised that he didn't actually try anything, since he can't say anything that isn't innuendo.)
[By then, her smile had faded. She had gathered some information on this place. Now it was time to discover what kind of world this Atlas was and how she could return to Auldrant as soon as possible. She would never return to Daath if Mohs or Van found out about her disappearance.]
Let's head back into town. Maybe you'll be able to confront the kid if he's still watching you. Anyway, I need to find a way back to Auldrant.

If you want to know about getting back, you'd probably better go to the Ad Libitum guild house. The guy who runs the guild knows more about the situation than I do. I was headed that way myself, actually...

It's not that I doubt you, it's just a matter of who heard you say that. That's why I said it would look bad.
[As she entered, she spotted a boy staring ahead. In most cases, she would have ignored him, but she recognized him as the kid that had followed Zelos to the outskirts of town. She met his gaze and continued to watch him as she addressed the redhead. She would say nothing about the kid. If he was not that worried, she could only assume that he knew what he was doing.]
Alright, well, I need someone to show the way anyway. Take me with you.
[Yes, Cantabile had manners. No, she did not use them unless necessary.]

[Zelos stretched as he walked into town, considering laying an arm casually around Cantabile's shoulders. He did promise not to lay a hand on her. How would she handle a loophole?]
[Something caught the corner of his vision. Something dark, and if he could trust his ears, child-sized. It was taking lazy, casual steps, each of which was a little too well-timed to be natural. He tried not to let it bother him, but the idea of being followed didn't sit well.]
[Still, best not to lose it.]
So, after we're done with this, want to get something to eat? A drink, maybe?

(I wonder if he noticed the runt. He'd harder to read than I first thought...either he's extremely stupid or extremely clever.)
[Cantabile caught a glimpse of Zelos' movement (she knew better than to stay to the right of anyone) but ignored it as inconsequential motions. She was more interested in the town anyway. Whenever she passed a new building, she read the sign and made a mental note of the location for the next time she was exploring on her own.
Every once in a while, she checked on the follower until he stopped in front of one of the larger buildingswhich she soon discovered was the inn. A place with that many cheagle decorations would be easy to spot and even easier to remember.]
So what's the purpose of this "Ad Libitum" guild anyway?

[Zelos tried to pass off his obvious move toward Cantabile as innocent and nothing more, though the fumble had been painfully obvious.]
[While she was busy checking out Blessenwood, he stole a look at whoever had been following them. The kid was next to the inn, smirking at him.]
[He was about to make a face at the kid when Cantabile asked him about Ad Libitum.]
Wha-? Oh, Ad Libitum? Well, we're supposed to be helping the people here out, healing up their world tree, et cetera. It's been a while since I heard from Yuan properly, so I dunno what he's up to these days.

[...But that sort of thought was to be saved for later. She had yet to see the guild. Something had just distracted her. She stiffened at Zelos' move and gave him a pointed look--not a glare, per se, but a very stern, "no nonsense" sort of stare. If he hadn't been helping her, she might have tightened her grip on her sword's scabbard.]

Yeah. Most townspeople aren't interested in people summoned by Martel. They think we're a bad omen of sorts. They're cool with the guild, though, since we help out around town a lot.
[She manages to fit two eyes' worth of glare into her rather pointed look despite the eyepatch. Whoops.]
Hm? What? Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. [He covers his fumble by moving in a little closer toward her. Not enough, say, for clothing-to-clothing contact, but enough to be kind of uncomfortable.]

[She stopped as she noticed a sudden lack of distance between herself and Zelos. "Nothing" her ass.]

Who needs to explain anything? I just want to make sure that your stay here in Atlas is as wonderful and interesting as possible.
[And with that, he wrapped an arm around her waist and adopted a tone reminiscent of an enthusiastic tour guide.]
On your left, you'll be able to see trees. To your right - [he gasped] - more trees! Now, if you look really carefully up ahead, you'll see even more trees.
Now, every once in a while, if you stain your ears a little, you might hear a chance to have a good time. Now, I dunno about you, but I didn't come here to have a good time, but I've found that chance.
I won't if you don't want to, but I'd also like you to know that Blessenwood is not the place for a pretty young woman like yourself to make a difference. [He leaned in a little closer to her ear.] Get out of here while you can. Yuan is an uptight bastard.

[The Daathic officer rolled her eye at the sarcastic tour.] (This is a little too reminiscent...I've seen this exact scenery every day since I was "transferred" to that hick town.)
[Well, if the last few moves weren't enough, Zelos' leaning in was more than her fair share of silliness for the day. She pulled away as he moved in, turning her head away from him.]
I'm part of the military of a place where "good times" go to die. Unless this Yuan is an uptight bastard with crazy ideals, I think I'll be fine here.
