This week we elected a new president, Mr. Barack Obama. I'll just go ahead and get it out there that I did vote for him. I was one of those obsessed people and in fact it took me quite a while to make a finally decision. In truth I was just tired of all of the hype and media coverage and couldn't wait until the election would be over so we could go back to normal. There was even a little scetch on the Daily Show that described my sentiment quite nicely. Anyway, point is, we still can't get away from it. Every single MSN news headline was connected to Obama's new cabinet, something about race, or about McCain's campaign and Sarah Pailin running for president in 2012. It is not enough that we just had a presidential election, that we have to look forward to the next one? I even saw a commercial this morning trying to sell special edition Obama coins. It was kind of odd to me. I don't remember people being this crazy in 2004 or any other election, but then again, maybe I just wasn't paying attention.
This has been a fairly strange week, not just becuase of the election but it seems like monday was a really long time ago. Tuesday I was off work but Jon wasn't. He did get off just a little early and we went to Louisville so he could vote and we could visit his family. It was a nice mini-trip. Wednesday my career took a new turn and I will now be working more in the administrative side of things now that the Lincoln exhibition is up. (I'm not an administrator but I will be helping in that capacity.) I had mixed feelings about it to being with because I was worried about knowing what I was doing, and worried that it might be taking me further away from the museum side of what I would like to do. Now I don't think that will be the case. In fact, I think this could be a really good thing. I get to see more of multiple parts of the organization than I would have otherwise. I will also be closer to the boss lady so I'm sure I'll learn alot. So far I've been staying on my toes and trying to keep things moving in the right direction.  We had a repection for the exhibition on Friday night where staff was asked to invite friends and family. I got to bring Jon down even though he had already seen it and my parents. They food was good and the wine and cocktails weren't too bad either. I have to share this little side story though. We were eating some of the food and the theme was something to do with Lincoln's favorite recipes. Jon said "man, Lincoln was a good cook." It was funny. Maybe you had to be there. They also debuted the museum theatre piece which was very nice. Back to my original train of thought, my boss gave me a shout-out in her opening speech. I was really proud.

So Jon and Paul are at the farm hunting this weekend and my parents are out of town so I'm dog sitting for them. I had originally planned on getting alot of stuff done this weekend (and did do some house cleaning this morning) but I've since decided that I might just take it easy tonight. Nothing wrong with that is there? ; )
