It looked peaceful so far. )
He hesitated briefly, aware that his weak constitution limited his usefulness in this situation, before jumping up and hurrying in the direction of the serpents.
As he neared the serpents, the Fon Master, already breathing heavily from treading water, unleashed a Daathic Fonic Art with a great deal of difficulty on the nearest monsters. He instantly felt faint, and it was all he could do to keep himself above water. At the very least, a couple of the serpents were distracted, and he hoped it would give the people they had been menacing a chance to escape.]

[Norma was paddling around awkwardly in a small boat that she had "borrowed" from one of the fleeing partiers (hey, finders keepers, right?), ostensibly looking out for people who needed rescuing, but secretly hoping to find someone who knew how to steer a boat. It was a skill she'd never quite gotten the hang of.
Looking back up from her stubborn oar, she spotted Ion, whom she'd noticed swimming into the fray before. Now that she was a little closer, she saw that he seemed pretty wiped out after using that snazzy spell. (What had that been, anyway?)]
Woah, Green, you okay?
[With a frown of concentration, she paddled over in approximately his direction.]

[Ion managed this between gasps of air as he struggled to stay afloat, his pale complexion and shortage of breath indicating that he was far from fine.
Daathic Fonic Arts left him weak to begin with, and performing one in water was clearly far more strenuous. If he didn't rest soon, the strain would likely be too much for his body to handle.]

[At this point she'd gotten the boat about as close to Ion as she could manage. She leaned over and reached out to him, beckoning urgently. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that one of the serpents seemed to heading their way. That... could be bad.]

[Ion took Norma's hand, grabbing onto the edge of the boat with his other hand. He then slowly pulled himself up, cautious not to rock the small boat too much. Unfortunately, all of his attention was focused on this task, and so the approaching serpent completely escaped his notice for the moment.]

She looked out towards the sea and saw Norma helping Ion out of the water. But that wasn't the only thing that caught her attention. Ion and Norma were in danger.]
...I still remember that day. The pain I felt... But there's one thing that doesn't change. I'm a God-General. And God-Generals protect the Fon Master!
[Arietta held out her doll in front of her and began casting her fastest fonic arte. The clock is ticking and she needs to beat it. She was hoping she won't cause more harm than good with this particular arte. It was soon finished. Arietta raised her doll above her head and finished the arte.]
Hammer of Light! Limited![Above the serpent's head came a glowing ball of light, which hung over for a few seconds. From that ball of light came a sudden beam of light that struck the serpent with a loud, distinct bang. Hopefully this produced ( ... )

Thank you!
[He called out in the loudest voice he could muster at the moment, but at his current distance from the shore and in his weakened state, he doubted that he was loud enough for her to hear him.
Ion returned his attention to the serpent. As much as he wanted to stay and help the remaining fighters, one Daathic fonic arte was about his limit. This reminder that he had probably caused more trouble than he had helped caused him to feel immensely guilty, but there would be time to worry about that later.]
We should probably get away while we have the chance

Woah! Not bad!
[She blinked the spots of darkness left by the bright light out of her eyes and picked up the oar again, not bothering to check to see who their savior was just yet. That would have to wait until they were safer.]
Yeah, let's get outta here! I dunno about you, but I can't use my eres with these things all up in my face like that.
[With some effort, she turned the boat back to shore and started paddling back as quickly as she could manage. Luckily, the waves were helping carry them back, so it wasn't quite as difficult as the trip out there had been.]

He slowly stood up, wobbling slightly as he climbed out of the boat. Although he had more or less recovered from using his Arte, going from the sea to land like that had thrown his balance off quite a bit.
After steadying himself, he turned to Norma.]
Thank you for saving me. I'm very sorry for the trouble I caused you.

Phew! That was a close one.
[Straightening up, she stretched her arms. When Ion spoke, she rolled her eyes and gave a wry smile.]
You know, maybe you shoulda thought of that before you went out there. Wanting to save people is great and all, but it's not much good if you're going to turn around and need saving yourself!

You're right. I'm sorry. I just rushed in when I saw that people were in danger out there. I should have thought more before acting.
