I'm back! Still alive (and crazy) after all these years....I was inspired to restart this "journal thing" by recent events and people (

Anyhow, JKR. What a great person! She created not only this amazing universe I love to lose myself in, with all its lessons and pure magic (no pun intended), but she created a leader who is good, bright, strong, and resourceful. Everybody looked up to Dumbledore. We all love him. I cried when he died in THBP. And then she outed him as a gay man, this Friday. I love this woman!
It takes guts, and a strong conviction in what's right, and fair, and how to teach our kids REALLY GOOD LESSONS in tolerance, and the rejection of stereotypes.
I don't recall any character of true leadership who is gay in children's lit. This is HUGE. What she did was as revolutionary as the HP universe itself. While I still resent her comments about people who read the end of books first (she hates me, according to a past interview), I forgive her everything. Because she just made this world a better place to be, by having the power of conviction to teach love and tolerance.
Only, what's with Neville and Hanna Abbot???? It should have been Neville and Luna!

"The Potter books in general are a prolonged argument for tolerance, a prolonged plea for an end to bigotry, and I think it's one of the reasons that some people don't like the books, but I think that's it's a very healthy message to pass on to younger people that you should question authority and you should not assume that the establishment or the press tells you all of the truth."
