History: History is
here, though the more relevant sections are the first one and from
this section on. Though I would just like to note that the mentioned "mysterious and exceedingly powerful" Mercury Adept who started the Alchemy Well and fathered Amiti is none other than Alex, the one who tried to become immortal using the power of the Golden Sun but failed, and who is considered as the series' main antagonist.
Personality:
Raised as the heir to the throne of Ayuthay, Amiti is usually a very cordial and polite person. Moments after Matthew's party was dropped into the outer area of the kingdom's underground area, he greeted them warmly, apologized for their jarring arrival, and invited them to see King Paithos, despite rumors that Matthew and the others were working for Kaocho and were trying to bring about Ayuthay's ruin. He treats elders and magical beings such as the Waelda, a race of giant talking trees who are the divine guardians of Kolima Forest, with the utmost respect. He is so respectful to them as to kneel before Laurel, a Waelda, despite her saying he should not do so. He persists, and asks the party to do so as well. Ayuthay, as his kingdom, is incredibly important to him, and any insult to his people is an insult to him.
Due to his royal upbringing, he is rather...naive. Ironically, upon seeing a man in Kolima Forest stuck in a tree with his face poking through, he believed he was a Waelda also, and knelt before him. Even though he was told all his life that he had no father due to being conceived by Psynergy, he failed to recognize that this was biologically impossible, for twenty years. When he was going to leave his kingdom to travel with Matthew's group, the thought of putting on a shirt to prepare for crossing the mountains didn't even cross his mind. It seems he has only a small amount of knowledge about the rest of the world.
He can, however, be quite sarcastic sometimes. When speaking with someone or about something he clearly dislikes, he goes from polite, formal speech to snide remarks and even insults when he is provoked. For example, he calls Eoleo, a pirate, a "despicable thug" upon their first meeting, and dismisses the Hermes Water that Briggs, Eoleo's father who is also a pirate, gives them as "a treasure that he cannot remember the value of, so he thanks us with it", sarcastically adding a "delightful" at the end. Even in Apollo Sanctum, when it seemed that Chalis' and Blados' plans were going to succeed, he could not help making an irritated comment about their apparent victory. For someone related to the cool-headed Mercury Clan, it only takes thinly-veiled insults or outright provocation to make him start biting back.
Unlike his namesake, Amiti can be very judgmental. Since he has been raised all his life to follow the law, his sense of morality is black and white, which Karis has lectured him on. At first, he believes all pirates are good-for-nothing scoundrels, and is stubborn about changing his perception of them. He shouts at Briggs to tell the full truth while calling him a criminal, which strongly contrasts his usual polite and formal personality. His stubbornness over his refusal to help Eoleo out of being boiled alive was called out on even by Tyrell, the hotheaded Mars Adept of the group. It isn't until Briggs dies saving his son and the party from the eclipse monsters' massacre that he realizes his mistake in labeling people, and laments that he has painted all pirates with the same broad brush, but he finds he owes his life to one.
Strengths:
Physical: As a Mercury Adept, he has access to his base class' Mercury Psynergy, which gives him control over water, and if equipped with the Ice Queen, ice. Because of this, he can attack by creating ice structures to pierce the enemy (Cool, Supercool, and Megacool), or summoning torrents of water to barrage the foe (Douse, Drench, and Deluge). Furthermore, he can heal individual allies with the Ply series of spells and cure status ailments such as poison, stun, sleep, and delusion, though not on the level of the "team healer", Rief. A Psynergy unique to him is the Insight Psynergy, which allows him to "learn what is needed", giving hints that solve puzzles in-game. (This most likely won't do anything in Luceti, though.) He is also proficient with light swords and bows.
Mental: When he does speak out in a discussion, he is quick to analyze the situation and keen to notice if there is anything off. While the group was observing Blados and Chalis, he was the first to note that Ryu Kou had slipped out of their sight for a moment due to their battle, and was going to activate Luna Tower, as well as the first to hear sounds coming from the shaded area Hou Zan and the others were hiding in to avoid the eclipse monsters. He is usually one of the few logical people in the group during a crisis.
Emotional: Amiti is usually willing to listen to other people, and tries to hear an argument out before doing anything rash. When Ryu Kou threatened to smash the Magma Orb and kill everybody in the nearby vicinity, his first response was to ask why he was so desperate. Even when he learned that he was not an immaculate conception, and that his uncle lied to him and the kingdom his entire life, he put it off to think about later, as there was still the task of retrieving the Insight Glass to be done, and being in the way by dwelling on his problems was not an option to him. He remarks after Volechek's death that "while it is hard to cause Sveta grief, it is the lot of all royalty to survive the loss of loved ones." Preventing emotions from getting in the way of making crucial decisions is what he often does.
Weaknesses:
Physical: However, since he is a Mercury Adept, he also possesses the major weakness of one: fire. Mars, the element of fire, is in conflict with Mercury, the element of water, which means any kind of fire-based attack will do twice the normal amount of damage on him. As skilled he is with light swords and bows, he cannot use regular swords, axes, or any other type of weapon well. Although he has high defense and stamina, his base class' Psynergy Points stat is relatively low, which means he cannot use his Psynergy as much as he would like, since he would reach his limit easily. Furthermore, once he runs out of the energy needed, he cannot use any Psynergy mid-battle, which could be fatal.
Mental: As noted above, Amiti is rather inexperienced about the world for someone who is supposed to be 20 years old. Aside from hunting sessions, he rarely leaves the kingdom. Not only does it lead to the very awkward situations listed above, it also causes him to blindly judge people simply because of who they were.
Emotional: Since he values honesty and is somewhat naive, this unfortunately makes him susceptible to being manipulated. There are very few times when he admits his own feelings, but when he does, he remarks that he feels powerless and there is nothing more that he can do. He still doubts himself, as he exclaims to his uncle that he may not survive what is to come, after seeing the cities slaughtered by the eclipse monsters' rampage. The thought of not returning to his uncle in Ayuthay in time constantly haunts him. It is apparent that the question of his heritage has been bothering him the entire journey, but he had not talked about it to anyone, as he felt stopping the Grave Eclipse was the most important mission. This leads to him hiding his true thoughts from anyone he is not comfortable with.

First Person: Q&A please.
Third Person:
Amiti was no stranger to the cold. After all, his entire arsenal of Psynergy dealt with manipulating water and ice. He wasn't even surprised at waking up on cold, hard ground, thanks to the incident with the sickened Dream Tree in Kolima Village. While the entire journey was uncomfortable, he had learned so much about the outside world, and to complain about luxury when traveling would just be self-centered.
He was, however, rather surprised there was snow in the first place, considering where he had been. Earlier, he had reasoned that the immense amount of light in Apollo Sanctum would surely be enough to melt snow, if it could actually kill a person with the sheer energy and concentration of light it rained down upon them.
But this wasn't Apollo Sanctum.
It was then he bolted upright. Adrenaline still pumped in his veins from the fight with that...monstrosity of shadow. Chalis and Blados were despicable in his eyes, but to choose to actually fuse with that beast and become a giant eclipse monster was somewhat pitiful, even to him. That hound they encountered earlier could certainly be called pitiful also, as Sveta could not even look at it without feeling like crying. What was that, anyway?...It was a matter to be dealt with later, now that she wasn't even in sight. Neither was the entire party.
Brushing the snow off his face, the blue-haired young man scanned his surroundings. They were unfamiliar, desolate, and even a bit intimidating, now that Matthew and his friends weren't here to support him in battle or assure him. He hadn't realized how lonely he would be without accompanying them. Even the face of that rambunctious, red-haired pirate would be a sight for sore eyes right now.
Instinctively, he reached for his weapon, but it was nowhere nearby. His weapon was gone, and the clothes he was wearing were definitely not his. If he was mildly surprised before, he was panicking now, though he attempted to hide it as well as he could. Despite being weaponless and in a very vulnerable position right now, he tried to concentrate on his next move, but they kept drifting to Arcanus, no, Alex. Pushing those distracting thoughts aside, he decided the best course of action would be to search further for any sign of well, anyone.
"This has the look of a trap." he bitterly grumbled to nobody in particular.
