I love the Beasties, but the original is just too much funk to ignore. Jimmy Smith is a monster. A gosh-darn building-climbing, subway-throwing monster.

Jimmy Smith's Root Down is plain SICK. I have a live version that's phenomenal. It's the only instrumental I truly love.

But the Beastie Boys did justice with their sample.
