"Oh hi everyone!"
What a good night! Last night it was the volunteers ball. Me and Rebecca arrived at around 8 and there were loads of ballons, half of which now seemed to fill my living room. When i arrived I was told tje award i was going to received and 2 others had to be cut from the Sprk Student newspaper awaard bit. I didnt mind as i could get drunk and not worry. So i set about having a copious amount of drink and getting to know more people on the paper and hanging out generally. Then me and Alex who is the Film Editor went to front of the stage for the awards to cheer outrageously and support our collegaues(the rest of the team were a few feet away, probably pretending not to be with us) . It was really funny as we were being so OTT, especially when Manuela mentioned our names. Alex got an award that i didnt know about so it was all outrageous and mad. After knokcing over Alex's pibnt everywhere we were even more hyped up. then Manuela started a speech which I quickly realised was for my award and i was like 'noooooooooooooooooooooooooo' and just started to violently shake alex. (Reminder: i had had a LOT to drink) So when I heard "RACHAEL WATT" I launched into some sort of baywatch style slow motion run towards the stage steps.
Luckily i didnt fall over or trip over all the band equipment etc on stage. So whilst rejoicing that I had made it to the stage I looked at the microphone and reliased I had to say something. Here is the speech which I (and so many people) remember vividly:
"Oh hi everyone! I was told that they were going to get an award so ive had a couple of pints hence being like this! oh dear. well all i have to say is woohoo and hope you all have a good night!woo!"
Again luckily i got off the stage safely. After that i kept apologising to everyone as i was so taken aback and just saying "i was set up!they did it on purpose" but everyone reasured me it was the most"legendary" speech so i suppose thats ok.
