and oh my lord, what a show it was. i'm not going to atttempt to top kenna's amazing post which said it all so brilliantly but will nevertheless put forward my own rambling-half-asleep-happy-sad-loving-already nostalgic version.
Closing was just amazing...Shana really said it at the end of the talk back when she was like, "Ohhh please all stay there so I can just look at this lovely full house..." and I agree....we were overflowing and it was beautiful. and the audience laughed. and giggled. and roared (but not like Kayla!) and made wonderful noise that feeds actors. Drawing on balloons in the boy's dressing room...oh, by the way, Alex, I still have my green shark one. It's beautiful. Collecting my packed lunch from Kayla in the lobby, storming out back during intermission to run through the misty rain and attempting to mimic Noel's crazy skip-jump thing. Waiting backstage right before the mechanical angst scene, dancing to Chain Gang. Watching the play within the play, Kayla and Kaya and I clutching each other and laughing silently so very hard as Noel popped one...encore.................Oh wow. There is something amazing about doing things onstage to make people laugh, to get an immediate reaction. After all that is the difference between live theater and films...the closeness with the audience and the feeling that, just for an hour or two, you pulled them into whatever world or time you were in and held them there. I'll never, ever forget the sunny beams light cue, the wall molestation, the macarena, the balloons, the wig swap, the slaps, the line add ons from the lobby ("Pleeeeeeeeease!" "Bitch!" "In my pants!")....we went out with a fantastic show.
And the cast party...mixed together images and conversations all blended into my brain..."OW MY UTERUS!" or boys discussing their pregnancies with Shana under COMPLETE confidentiality...laughing at fifth grade "shakespeare", let's get it on...i shall never see that song the same way...devin's emotional serenade that turned out to be rather raucous...alcoholic fondue, playing I Never and managing to stick with it when poker, truth or dare, mafia, and several others failed...becoming sentimental too early and being reprimanded...having hand puppet sex with kenna..hahah...everyone molesting my pillow...listening to stories and kayla's brilliant questions and taking photos that are all blurry...falling asleep on the carpet and waking up, walking outside into cool air only to hear, You look as if you've aged forty years...wearing garden gloves and getting chai tea...headphones with REAL cool music....am I allowed to be sentimental yet, Kenna? :)yeah, it's late enough...I love you all!
here is the link...most of the pictures attest to my sleepy/incoherent/silly state...oh well
