I didn't vote on the second one, because we always called it "suntan lotion" regardless of whether it was tanning lotion or not.

This poll is insufficient. :|

Yeah, we often called it "suntan lotion," too. I think we also called it sunscreen and occasionally sunblock.

I definitely don't bat an eye when I hear "sunscreen" or "sunblock," but I rarely use either word myself.

I very nearly put that in. XD But then I remembered getting reprimanded for using it and was like "...nah, that's a totally different thing." Oh well.

Haha yeah, that's the thing about regionalisms; some words people use aren't even really the word for the thing they're describing! I actually never knew there was such a thing as tanning lotion -- you know, for actual tanning purposes -- until I was probably in high school. :| Crazy, but it just never occurred to me that there were both lotions to prevent tanning and lotions to promote it. I honestly thought "suntan lotion" was synonymous with "sunblock" or "sunscreen," all of which did the same thing.
