It's actually a picture of River editing the bible, from Firefly. I like it because of the composition, the way she holds her hand and her expression. She looks very calm, as if she's concentrating very hard. Default icon, because I like books and lately River has been one of my avatars.
And here we have traumatized Ned. Okay, on a less flippant note and speaking of particular interests, T.E. Lawrence is one of my historical fascinations, and, unfortunately, someone with whose letters I identify. I originally had it as my default when I started this journal - to remind myself to dream with open eyes, no matter what. I suspect the caption is supposed to be ironic, given the scene, but I find it appropriate.
The NSFW icon! This is a bit of an A Song Of Ice And Fire in joke - there's a character who proselytizes for a god called R'hllor, and is not only rather overtly sexual but almost definitely sleeping with at least one of her converts. Hence, R'hllor's greatest weapons. Used for risque subjects or just general goofyness.
And another ASOAIF in joke. One of the characters has an intelligent yet highly annoying raven who demands corn all the time. I use it for pointless posts and memes, like this one.
B5! At one point Sheridan has a line telling the Vorlons to get off their encounter-suited butts - apparently rather well-known because it made it into the season 5 opening montage and made me laugh every time. So here we have Kosh displaying the aforementioned encounter-suited butt. To be used for general silliness.
I dunno, I decided that I wanted a smartteims!icon, and Simon fit the bill. I like the composition.
