The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival has announced the launch of Merge Miami, a two-day conference and networking event opening April 26 on queer film and media that is sponsored and funded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, presenters of the annual Oscar awards. Merge Miami, to be held across the opening weekend of the 10th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, will provide a platform where seasoned film industry veterans lend their knowledge and expertise to aide those commencing their transition into motion pictures, while international industry tastemakers have the opportunity to come together and interact with the pioneering filmmakers and industry talent. The MUSEXPO 2008 conference opens April 27 in West Hollywood with a video documentary on "How to Fix The Music Business" and is followed by a wine tasting and cocktail reception on the rooftop of The Hyatt West Hollywood.
