Hey Everyone!
I've been on Livejournal for some time and decided to join some other communities that deal with my interest and what I enjoy doing. I am a writer and aspiring actress. So I thought it would be a good idea to join this community and be able to discuss and talk with other people involved with the industry of acting.
I studied Drama for four years at a performing arts academy in NJ. In that time I competed in many acting competitions and won a good amount of rewards. I got into politics shortly after graduating from H.S. So I traveled around for about three years before realizing that writing and acting was what I wanted to pursue seriously. So here I am. I am currently on the West Coast (not SoCal, I'm in NorCal). So now, at the ripe age of 22-lol, I'm ready to jump back into it.
Why I want to act? I love acting for one and I think there needs to be more African-American actresses on the scene-more actors of color period really, to show the diversity of the world.
So here are some questions:
1. Black and White headshots or color?
2. I live in San Francisco, and really don't want to try and move to L.A. I think I can travel back and forth if needed, and there are agencies in Frisco. Is this a realistic approach?
3. Any recommendations for agencies?
4. Any advicefor people actively already in the business would be greatly appreciated.
