So Pugs had a restful night in bed with me thanks to an extra dose of pain killers. Careena was sweet enough to get her little red wagon and bring it by and so Pugs has a safer means of transportation around the house. Now I don't have to carry her from bedroom to living to porch... I can wheel her around. Now, if I just had that ramp...

She's drinking and eating a little... mommy gave her a scrambled egg last night. Mommy also put her bowls on a step stool so she can eat while sitting.

She can stand for maybe 30 seconds, but absolutely no attempt at walking. And when she is standing, her back feet are either really turned in or really turned out.

She's not in pain right now, and that's good. This weekend is a "wait and see" period.

If you don't know what hip dysplasia is I'll give a brief explanation. The tendons and ligaments holding the femur (leg bone) into the hip socket get lax. The connecting tissue stretches allowing the bones to come apart from each other. Because the joint isn't working properly the bones will rub in the wrong way, bone spurs develop, the joint becomes misshapen and painful. There are a couple of surgeries that can help (shortening the ligaments if you catch it early, total hip replacement, removal of the offending socket, etc). It's yucky.
