I figure between my animals and maladr1n's animals... we have probably purchased a new house or something for our vet.
Pugsley goes in tomorrow morning for spinal x-rays, which they only do under general sedation. She had blood drawn today, and I should get the results for both by tomorrow afternoon.
Pugs hasn't improved. One of her hind feet basically isn't working... she drags it while the other 3 are working. She also has pain in her lower back which she didn't have last week. She doesn't want to walk even a couple of steps. I hauled her out of the car and onto a towel on the porch... which I proceded to pull into the house. Anyone have a little wagon or an old-fashioned pram I can push her around in?
The vet still thinks it is a slipped or pinched disc in her back. But the fact that steroids haven't had an effect is not a good sign. The x-ray will see if this guess is right, or if it is something else. Let's just say that things aren't looking good. The word "paralysis" came up several times in regards to both her legs and her ability to relieve herself. Also there was a mention of a surgery costing thousands of dollars that may or may not make her perfectly healthy.
I will not over-react. I will not freak out. I am trying not to imagine worst case. I will wait for the test results. I will drag my dog around the house on a bath towel because she cannot walk. I will heave her into bed tonight so she isn't alone... or I'll sleep on the floor next to her.
