Lazy Saturday.

The fourth of the month, the first day in a week I haven't been to a library, which I honestly think is a good thing because I was getting kind of sick of sitting down and working hard at stuff. Tomorrow is going to be a make-or-break day for my assignments however. I've worked out a schedule for it all, what needs to be done by what day and date so I should be fine as long as I keep to the schedule.
Its my little brothers birthday tomorrow so I'm looking forward to it, my grandmother from Sydney is up in Brisbane for the weekend to celebrate is, although she's more in town to celebrate my niece because any excuse to hang around with an adorable little bub will do. My brother doesn't want a present this year from me, assuming, wrongly, that because he didn't get me one I shouldn't have to get him one. I don't think he understands how guilt works and how much I hope to mine this invaluable resource for my own devious ends. Hopefully he'll have it all worked out tomorrow when I lay down the guilt monster on his crown.

I've barely left the house today, figured that I didn't really need to go get anything or do much. I worked out how much my brothers present will probably cost($30 give or take) and then started to watch Easy A while waiting for my grandmother to get home(I'm at my parents place today Matt has someone else to look after him on Friday nights) so we could have dinner, catch up on news from Sydney and generally hang out. My grandmother is a really cool person, she's nearly 80(I think never can remember ages) and has pretty much all of her wits about her still. She lives in the same house she's lived in my entire life with my cousin down south and stay pretty active all the time. I hope to be half as active when I'm her age. She told us about how my cousins all got together for a rather slurred evening a few weeks ago and said she was sad I couldn't go, I do miss my family down there, I get on with them a lot better than my cousins up here. Not that I don't get on with my QLD relatives it is just I get on better with my Sydney ones. It's kind of annoying really, the distance. I gave my grandmother the book I won at Alia's Trivia night for my youngest cousin, I'm sure she'll love it when she gets it, it is a think book so I hope it isn't too intimidating.
I remember the first really thick book I struggled through and finished, I think it was Lord of the Rings, I spent months finishing that thing off. It was a hardcover book when I started with it, but the cover was long destroyed by the time I finished it, I had to augment the spine and binding with Sticky Tape just to keep the thing from crumbling in my hands. Still I've no regrets about it all because finishing something like that is a great feeling.

After dinner we had some ice-cream(Ice-Cream in winter seems slightly wrong for some reason) and Gran told me that in Sydney they're tearing down some old building in Marrickville to replace it with some giant public library so that's good to know and keeps me a bit more on topic for BlogJune. She said I'd be able to get a job down there if I couldn't get one in Brisbane, which would complete the Brisbane student cliche of moving to Sydney or London for me. I'll resist the temptation for now, I do love it a lot here and despite my cousins being down south I have all of my friends(except the treacherous curs who moved to Sydney) up here.

After dinner I had to go on the computer and help find some photos for her to burn to CD so she'd have some family shots when she got back to Sydney. We ended up going through all the old wedding photos(nearly had a panic attack looking for them because I haven't exactly sanitised my old computer as properly as I thought I had, the photos from Halloween 2009 haunt me to this day) and ended up going through almost all of my post-2008 photos, pictures of the floods in Brookfield back in 2009, the Flood earlier this year, weddings, birthdays and all the random photos in between. It was nice. I ended up finding a lot of old photos from Kokoda with my uncle in them.
It was sad but nice. So all in all an uneventful day but nice none the less.

Also looking forward to tomorrow, birthday cake, soccer, Doctor Who and probably a roast lunch! Excite! MENT!

Twitter Feed of the day: @Dean_Learner he added me for some reason and I love that he's worked with Lulu.
