Although Tom isn't thrilled about having Friday, Saturday days off, I really like it.
I really need Saturday to relax and not do school work and sleep. That's what I did last Saturday, and it was nice to be able to hang out with Tom whilst doing so. This weekend we did exciting activities like go to Target and buy toilet paper, have lunch with awful service at the Olive Garden, and complain about Brooklyn traffic.
Because I was so well rested, and Tom was at work today, I was able to do all of my homework for the week... and now I don't have anything to worry about until Wednesday. It's good being done with grad work.
This semester is going so much better, now that I have my thesis off my shoulders. It seems like my tough professor is going soft, too. Less reading, the assignments seem less complicated. It almost seems like a regular grad class. I don't know if this is because I'm used to having obscene amounts of work, or if my professor indeed has gone soft, but I'm enjoying the lessened workload.
And school is still going well. I'm spending one more week of map work with my students... and probably giving them a really "hard" quiz this week. I'll have to lead another training on Friday. I'm having fun with my co-teacher this year. We continue to be a dream team.
I'm starting to get more and more excited about my vacation too! I have no idea what I'm going to do in each port. We have four days in very different paradises... and I don't know what to do in each. Swim with dolphins? Snorkel in the second largest reef system? See Mayan Ruins? Go cave tubing? Hang out at a beach? Go on rum tours? Each port has such fun things to do, and I want to do them all. Not to mention Tom probably wouldn't mind getting his birder on somewhere. We also have to book our airfare and decide how much time we're going to spend in Tampa. I feel like I booked the airfare to Seattle too soon for our honeymoon cruise, so I'm not going to jump right away, but I don't want to miss good deals, either. Right now there appears to be a direct flight that leaves from LGA and will get us to Tampa around 10:30 the morning before the cruise, which would be plenty of time to explore Tampa a bit and get settled in a hotel for a night. So many decisions! Tom leaves all these decisions up to me. I suggest something and he agrees. So stressful! Maybe someday he'll surprise me by planning a vacation himself :)
So, life is good. I'm going to try to get to bed, even though I woke up 12 and a half hours ago. I can work five days for a three day weekend!
