How is Lady Gaga allowed to have a song with the lyrics:

"Hold me and love me. Just want to touch you for a minute"

"I want to take a ride on your disco stick"

First of all, what exactly is a disco stick? I mean, I get the sexual reference... but I've heard of disco balls, I've just never heard of disco sticks. I swear I heard this song on the radio and I remember the lyrics "pogo stick."

I can picture my students coming back in the fall singing this song.

So, I'm watching the VH1 top 20 countdown this morning. I'll admit, I'm kind of separated from pop culture and pop music. I love that they play the whole Lady Gaga video, which is in position number 3, that is sultry and steamy and ridiculous. It has girl on girl kissing, Lady Gaga getting felt up... a whole lot of sultry-ness. However, the Rob Thomas video that is in position number 2 is not played! Obviously Rob Thomas needs to make some more sultry videos.

I remember watching this top 20 countdown with my mom when I was young... If video killed the radio star, did reality shows kill the video star? That seems to be mostly what's on Vh1 and MTV now. Was there ever a video star, or just radio stars that made cool videos?
