Tutorial: Watermark your pictures

Aug 25, 2009 12:52

I had some problems with people who stole my graphics and sometimes without a credit. I made my Community members only but i still want to share some of my graphics. For that i had idea. It's nothing new but simple. I'm going to watermark the graphics i share with guests in a preview post.

I don't want to invest to many time for this, so here's a little tutorial to make it easy every time you'll need it.

 Tutorial: Watermark your pictures

Open a new Document in Photoshop.
Make it 400px x 400px for now. You can basically set the size you want. Or change it afterwards.
Make sure your new document has Background Contents: Transparent.

Now write your Copyright on this document and set it how you like it.

Example:

Now go to Edit -> Preset Manager and Preset Type = Patterns.
Delete all the pattern you see right now. Don't wory if you don't click Save they are just deleted from this view not from your computer.
Click Done.

Now choose Edit -> Define Pattern.
Enter a Name and click OK.

Go to Preset Manager again and Present Type = Patterns.
Now you can see one pattern, it's the one you just defined. Mark it and click Save Set.
Save the Set to a Folder on your computer.
Click Done.

Now you have the pattern with your Watermark you can use when you want.

To use it open the picture you want to mark.
If you have more than one Layer go to the top and choose Layer -> New Fill Layer -> Pattern. Click okay to the new Layer and choose the pattern you just created.  Now you should see your watermark on your picture. You could use Soft Light as Layer Style to have your watermark a little less.

This way you can use the pattern every time you need it and it won't take long.

Hope this will help.
