I need to do a haul post now. I had a good Christmas. I got candy, books, vitamins, socks, a vegetable chopper, a spiral vegetable slicer, and a 3D printing pen. There was some other stuff I've probably forgotten too. This is also the first Christmas I've gotten some problem things. Mom gave me two brushes because she had gotten me one and forgotten about it so she got me another. I don't know how much they will get used because they have plastic bristles. I also got a coloring book from my aunt that I already have two copies of. I will most likely regift it without telling her. I also gave back the socks that I got in my stocking, except for the slipper ones. I already have more socks than I know what to do with. I just got new socks recently, one pair from the endoscopy center and one from the hospital. I don't even like to wear socks. Mom gave me a big box of cheap underwear too. I needed them, but that's something I prefer to buy myself and not pull out of a gift box in front of my dad and brother. She also gave me a jacket. I don't really like it because it's too short, but she will insist I keep it and most likely insist I wear it too. I wore it yesterday to take Colby on a walk and kept trying to pull it down. I already have several jackets I rarely wear. I think next year I'm going to have to make a don't want list in addition to a want list. I'm thankful for what I got, but a lot of what I got was redundant or embarrassing. The good gifts I got were great though.
The 3D printing pen was interesting, and Nick insisted I try it out right away. He got it for me, and had no trouble learning how to use it. I, on the other hand, had tons of trouble with it. It also jammed up. He's a lot like Dad, wanting me to try stuff before I've researched or thought about it enough and keep going at it until he's satisfied that I've tried it enough, which is usually long after I've gotten frustrated or tired.
We had Christmas Dinner at lunch. It included prime rib, shrimp cocktails, cooked carrots, sugarsnap peas with cremini mushrooms, rolls, and mashed potatoes. Mom forgot the cranberry jello salad, and we were too full for cake. Then, Nick and Dad played cribbage all afternoon, while mom took a long nap. I was bored. Dad and Nick are both a lot smarter than I am, so watching their game was not engaging for me. Then, Mom wanted to go to the movies. She wanted to see Darkest Hour, but it was sold out when we got to the movie theater. We bought tickets for Star Wars instead, got one for Nick too, and waited around for an hour. We walked over to Walgreens while we were waiting and saw a bunch of Black Vultures perched on top of some of the buildings. Luckily Walgreens was open so we could wait in there instead of outside in the cold. The Star Wars movie was okay. A lot of action without a lot of plot, and what plot there was was confusing because it picked up where the one from 2015 left off, and I had forgotten a lot of what happened in that one.
We had dessert at a neighbor's house after we got back from the movie. We shared our cake, and the neighbors shared their pie. Then we came home and I went to bed.
Today, Mom and I hit the 50% off sales at WalMart and Lowes. We got lights at Lowes, but we got to the car and realized they were the wrong kind. We just needed a strand to replace our old half-dead strand of chase lights for our Christmas tree. These were on a big spider web looking thing that drapes over the tree like a net. We went to Walmart next and found a suitable strand of lights there. They aren't chase lights, but the strand is close to the right length. We also got a couple small strands of white lights for the owl tree. We keep it lit year round, and just leave its lights on all the time, so we will need more lights for it sometime. We found a set of spiral trees for next year, and after looking all over the store, we found bows. I also got bird seed for the budgies.
We went home after returning those wrong lights to Lowes, and now I'm packing for Kentucky. We leave tomorrow and get back Friday. Izzy and Rocky are staying home this time. Dad told me to just give them extra food to last a couple days. I know Izzy will be upset with me. He's been so sweet lately.
