I'm really tired right now. I've been super busy this week. I finished my Christmas shopping for my family unless I see some random things I want to get them. I was able to get over to World Market and buy presents. The only thing I didn't find was the chocolate banana spread I was intending to get for my aunt. They discontinued it along with a lot of their other spreads including the dark chocolate one I liked to use to make fudge. I found her something else I think she'd like. I got my brother a couple of things and something for my Dad. I had bought mom's presents at CVS the day before when it was nice weather for bike riding. I also went in PetSmart and Hobby Lobby for fun. There were the most beautiful budgies at that PetSmart including a darling blue baby with stripes all the way down to his cere. I petted a sweet dog too. After shopping, Mom and I went to the Walmart over there, and that Walmart had a huge Christmas section compared to our Walmart in Huntersville. I saw the 6ft spiral tree, as well as the 3ft/4ft set. I didn't get them though, even though I want a spiral tree. They also had tons of tinsel, which I haven't seen much of at my Walmart. There was turquoise and white, white with fat iridescent bits in it, soft red, soft white, soft green, and lots of other colors too. There were lots of cartons of shatterproof Christmas balls too. There was one carton of all pink ones, and one of pink ones and gold ones, as well as ones of every color imaginable. I had fun looking in their Christmas section.
The same day I went Christmas shopping was also a big baking day for me. I made and cut a batch of cashew butter fudge, and i cooked a batch of caramels, which Dad cut and Mom and I wrapped yesterday. We did more baking yesterday because I needed to make cupcakes for a kids party that was today. Mom made cake balls yesterday too. She baked her cake for them first, and then I made cupcakes while she was resting. I was even able to frost and put sprinkles on them while she and Dad were resting. She made her cake balls last night, and then she dipped big pretzel sticks in the leftover coating and rolled them in sprinkles. She even threw random pieces of leftover cookies into the coating to use it up. I ate the dipped gingersnaps today.
I took a big bag of caramels to CRC today where they are a big hit. I worked hard today because the BDOW cage had not been raked while I was sick and then most of the leaves came down this past weekend. I filled a whole big garbage bag with leaves and then I had to go get a wheelbarrow to carry it in and a second bag for the BNOW cage. I missed my owls. They were quiet today, but I did get a wing across the forehead when one of them buzzed me. I hope the staff in the administrative building find their caramels because only one person was there when I delivered them. I didn't even rest when I got home. I got right onto making a batch of truffles. They have been stirred up and rolled into balls. The balls are in the freezer now and will be dipped in chocolate coating tomorrow. My family is going to go through the cookies and candy we have made over the weekend and get gifts for friends ready to go on Monday.
I found a webcam of Old Faithful and I've been watching both the live cam and the still cam. I finally caught it erupting today. They don't predict its eruptions for most of November or December because the Visitor Center is closed during those times. I've looked on Yellowstone's map, and most of it is closed to cars now. People have to get around there by snow coaches and snowmobiles right now. Only the North Entrance at Gardiner and the road from it to the Northeast Entrance are open to cars now. The rest of the park is snow vehicles only, and Old Faithful is about halfway between the South Entrance and the West Entrance on the grand loop road. Somebody must be there because the live cam zooms in when they think one of the geysers in range of the camera is going to erupt. I've been having fun watching that live cam.
I have two Christmas parties coming up this weekend, and I also need to get to the library to renew my library card. I don't know if Ignite is having a Christmas open house this year because I don't get their emails any more. I've been too inactive due to being either busy or sick. I wish I knew when their open house was because I missed last year's due to being sick, and I want to go this year. I won't be too upset if I miss again though because I feel really tired, and I want to try to get feeling a little better before Friday, 12/15. That's the day of my surgery and I'd like to feel halfway decent physically before I go in.
