UGH WHY DID THIS TAKE SO LONG

Ssoooo Hanna was her favorite camp person! Emphasis on camp, because when she started attaching herself to people she was not expecting to be around long enough for anyone to really start to matter. Her boss was going to show up after a couple of weeks, bust open the barrier, possibly lecture her on the dangers of time distortion, etc. etc. And then she'd say bye to her new friends and feel sad for a while but get over it pretty quickly, because she has mutant superpowers that let her rationalize these things.

BUT ALAS, SHE'S STUCK. And she and Hanna continued to have bonding times and adventures! So by the time she had to have the post-mistletoe conversation with him Hanna had managed to get into the ~*best friend*~ category along with her non-camp people. Which combined with the whole HANNA DOESN'T SHARE THINGS behavior that she was starting to pick up on kind of freaked her out! She worried that they weren't actually as good friends as she thought or that mistletoe messed everything up forever and that maybe she should just stop... talking to him before she got even more attached.

So it's a good thing Hanna got FEELINGS EVERYWHERE after he got shot because suddenly things actually make sense! She's still kind of :/ :/ :/ about the whole lying about crazy!Wendy thing and him making potentially terrible choices about vampires, but Hanna worrying about being a bad friend and not having a lot of people experience explains a lot about his rides on the bad decision dinosaur. Now she can feel free to be bffs with him and deal with her HUGE AMOUNTS OF GUILT by doing stupid fun activities with him without worrying that she's going to be burned whenever she has to do the whole HONEST FEELINGS thing.

BONUS ROUND: HILARIOUSLY she's starting to really ... recognize a lot of herself in him, especially the whole "I am really sorry I ditched you to do a thing that I can't tell you all the details about and also my outfit got ruined" thing. This stuff happens, it's cool, you should still share with me because we're bros.

HANNA STARTED TO MAYBE REALIZE that people notice and also really don't like it when he's terrible at lying and avoiding things when Elijah, Wendy, and Conrad were all mad at him for it at the same time. 8'D But it's a habit he's... really not going to break anytime soon because there are things he honestly can't bring himself to share and will never ever fully talk about ever. BUT HE TRIES TO KEEP THESE ISSUES HIDDEN and it

Hanna admittedly gets crushes really easily (for those playing at home the list now definitely includes Sophie-Anne and Annie, WHAT UP), but Wendy has somehow leveled up from mostperfectgirlkyaaa (which made her inaccessible because Hanna never gets the girl, ever) to WE ARE FRIENDS!!!! AND SHE IS AMAZING which makes her more important. So yes. 8|a Because of his lifestyle/issues/being himself, Hanna is the kind of person who has lots of acquaintances, but they all get stuck in that pre-friend zone. When he does make closer friends it is intense and scary and awesome!! SO THIS IS EVEN SCARIER AND AWESOMER. In terms of Actual Things happening, Wendy's solidly off limits in Hanna's mind because of boyfriend + NOT RUINING EVERYTHING + friendship!! but that doesn't mean he can't be superdere for her and insanely loyal and try to protect her when she doesn't actually need it and slkafjsdf.

Hanna holds no grudge whatsoever over the shooting thing but the fallout from it was terrible and he knows he should have told her right-out what happened and IF IT HAD BEEN ANYBODY ELSE he might have, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. 8( and then he felt shitty forever for being a huge liar and IT WAS GROSS, THE END

More recently he was really upset about ditching her at the dance because IT WAS A DICK MOVE and he was so excited to go with her, hnnngh. He'd tell Wendy exactly what went down except Elijah told him and Niche not to let it get out and with Klaus around and potentially mind-poking at people Hanna didn't want to run the risk of Wendy getting involved through association. BUT HE'S INSANELY HAPPY SHE UNDERSTANDS or at least said she did and he will do anything to make it up to her.
