...as my Dad likes to call Massachusetts. It's freaking freezing up here. I have no idea how I survived living in New Hampshire for most of my life. Sheesh.
The drive up here was long last night, although I got some quality time in with my boys. I got to meet Dan's family and his Dad has promised to take me to Japan with him (sorry, Dan). Dan's dog Lady licked my face, so I think she likes me. What can I say? Dogs have good taste. It was amazing being amidst a family in which I was one of the tallest people present. That has never happened to me before.
After meeting the tribe, Adam gave me the tour of Braintree and Quincy. I got to see John Adams' house and the church where he was buried! Yay for John Adams. Now I feel as though I've made up for visiting Alexander Hamilton's grave. I also got to see Adam's Mom and sleep on his couch, so that was cool. I always love seeing my college friends in their natural habitats, so to speak. It really does give you brand new insight into people. I feel as though I know both Dan and Adam a little bit better now. Then I accompanied Adam to the DMV where we decided that we're siblings and Adam got new license plates.
Finally I made it to Malden and Mary's house. I hung around pretty much all day doing nothing but write in my sketchbook and watch the History Channel. Ahhhhh relaxing. We just picked up my brother from Logan, so the whole Tasker threesome is now reunited watching some special about Teddy Roosevelt. I'm looking forward to getting my butt kicked at Nintendo tomorrow and Friday. Not to mention the fact that we're going to visit Jake on Saturday, which I'm uber excited about. We haven't seen each other since we've been "grown ups."
Is it silly for me to admit that I definitely miss Dan already? I hate to be one of those saps, but I'm already very spoiled and dislike sleeping alone. He's probably too busy to even notice that I'm not there, what with being surrounded by about three hundred family members.
On a similar note, I also greatly miss seeing my roomie and suitemate. With class and rehearsal going until 11 at night and then me sleeping over at Dan's, I never get to see them. Can we schedule an Olive Garden night in the seriously near future, ladies? My treat. I miss you girls.
At any rate, Thanksgiving starts in about twelve minutes, so Happy Turkey Day! As I stated on my livejournal last year, I feel that this holiday is based on a historical event that turned out very badly for an indigenous people, so sometimes I have difficulty celebrating it with a clear conscience. The sentiment behind it, however, is good and it's certainly nice to have a few days that are largely free of homework (just a bit of Shakespeare to memorize). I intend to enjoy mounds of mashed potatoes and apple pie tomorrow, at the very least. Perhaps I'll even make a list of what I'm thankful for this year, much like I did last year. Adieu.
adam,
thanksgiving,
