Still Untitled, maybe: The Shower One

I’m tired of people telling me how I should react,

have they been where I’ve been, have they found their way back?

I’ve been told I’m strong, I Can move on.

Duah, I know, I’m trying, still here, not gone.

I’m here aren’t I, standing in front of you,

hoping you can see, This is what I do.

As vocal as I am, how dare I NOT give a voice to voices unheard?

I’m a strong, powerful, intelligent, beautiful black woman,

So watch me closely as I make strides against indifference and take a stand.

So…… I hopped outta the shower to write this, grabbed my handy-dandy notebook and finished it by night.

Glad it was around, hey for once Blue’s Clues got something right.

But anyway, back to the beginning,

This world, it ain’t about winning,

It’s about triumphing above all odds,

Reach toward God’s

God’s will for us to believe in something, believe in someone, believe in ourselves, where for once it Can be… about ME,

for I am more than what you see.

Look past this and Stand with me.

How much longer will we accept… how much longer can this violence be?

So I ask you again, will you stand with me?

Will you speak out, will you scream, will you shout?

This coming together is what it’s all about…

For once, all on the same page without a doubt.

Life is too short, so are we in this battle together, or do I stand alone?

I had this pain that hurt so deep before, that gritted down to the bone.

But now I stand here no longer as a Clevelander, Ohioan, or even a Cyclone,

I stand here as Anasia, a girl, No a woman, with the armor of God on, ready to be free.

Asking you once last time, be an agent of change,

For this cause, will you stand up?

Stand, stand and fight with me?
