I am in three classes (That's 50credits. That's 12 hours): Natural Product Chemistry, Infection and Immunity and Moral Philosophy.
I have a total of seven hours of classes in a week. I have no labs. I have no classes on Wednesdays. I have no homework (except for the one essay I had to write last week--- for my Infection class).
(I am getting ridiculously lazy.)
Natural Product Chemistry is a fantastic class!! We meet for two hours a week and there is no coursework (my entire grade depends on the final exam). It's taught by two professors (One is Dr. Goss, a really young professor who has actually heard of KU! She wears black a lot. And Dr. Stevenson is the other professor. He sometimes has trouble keeping track of his carbons. And he wears a lot of stripes).
We get to learn about fatty acid and polyketide and terpene synthesis. It's amazing! (No. That is not sarcasm.)
Infection and Immunity started out as a complete waste of my time (but it's gotten a little better). It's been eight weeks. I've learned hardly anything new about immunity. And now we're doing Infections and we've finally gotten more in deapth. We meet three times a week. We've had about five lectures cancelled. And we only have five more lectures left.
I've completely lost track of how many professors we've had so far.
(These people are crazy.)
Moral Philosophy is a complete waste of time (all three hours of it).
I mean, the theories are interesting... and I like learning about them.
But all these theories get you nowhere in life. All these theories are idealistic and can't actually be applied to the real world.
200,000 years of human existence and that is all we've come up with.
(See, this is why I am a scientist.)
My Moral Philosophy professor needs to be mentioned. Dr. Catherine Osborne looks like a cross between Professor Sprout from 'Harry Potter' and a character out of a Roald Dahl book. She's tiny and cylindrical with a round face and short, curly, gray hair. And she wears neon (pink and yellow mostly) colored long sleeved shirts with rounded collars and black vests (with her black pants).
She says funny things.
I have no idea when my exams are.
Spring break is from March 17th - April 15th. (Fantastic!!!!)
English schooling system is weird.
