The Thorntons toffee (bribe to the audience) appeared to glue peoples' jaws shut sufficiently. I finished waaaay early too - talked for about thirty-five minutes, then questions, but that was nerves mostly (spoke way too fast).

Having sat in a number of seminars over the past year, I'm sure that finishing in 35 minutes did not damage your popularity in the least.

I was about to say. I find longer seminars harder to understand. 35 minutes is about right I'd say.

Experienced public speakers have a clock with a nice clear dial, and at least one 'filler' piece of known length.

The toffee trick is entirely new to me and I fully intend to try it out.
