I mailed in my absent voter ballot a few days ago. I guess a year or two ago I, and I assume lots of other Californians, got somethin' or other in the mail making it super-easy to get those (or maybe I'm dumb and it's always super-easy everywhere); I hope it was to save poll expenses and not so they'd be easy to round-file.
I voted for Obama mostly 'cause I think he has a chance of beating the Republican (whichever). I'm glad someone smarter than me about these types of things and whose opinion I respect (yes I mean you, dummy, who'd'ya think? *smooch*) thinks so too. I dislike Hilary and I intensely dislike the little I've heard about her campaigning behavior -- she's gonna make more enemies than the Dems can afford, in fact I believe you that she already did.
In totally unrelated news, I'm not only more devastated by Heath Ledger's death than by any other celebrity's ever, but than any other person's I didn't know personally ever. I doubt I can get into details on what he means to me without crying, just yet, but I will say that in addition to all the reasons for his own sake, also his middle name was Andrew and when he got a mischievous gleam in his eye he reminded me very much of Andy.
Nor do I think I can at the moment tell you why I consider "Brokeback Mountain" the finest film in history without crying. Too big a portion of the reasons is bound up in what he achieved in it.

And while I'm not sure Brokeback is my absolute favorite movie, it's definitely up there among the finest. Condolences...
