John Connor (Thomas Dekker) in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (the awesome Terminator television show everyone should check out, though it was cancelled) wasn't one I was thinking about being naked with so this is less defensive than the last blog post.
Instead of going over each individual episode as it relates to John Connor I will talk about four relationships (not just intimate/sexual relationships).
John Connor and his mother (Sarah Connor played by Leda Heady) have a close relationship. It's just another son and mother relationship but it isn't always peaceful. John is angry at Sarah for leaving Charley Dixon (who had proposed to her and she had accepted) and always moving. This relationship becomes more unstable when Cameron (a Terminator from the future sent back to protect John and Sarah Connor, played by Summer Glau) joins. After the events of "Samson & Delilah" (Season 2, and, yes, the title to the episode is a Bruce Springsteen reference) John grows further away from his mother. However, by the end of the series he admits to loving his mother but he still chooses to go to the future to find Cameron.
John Connor and Cameron have a complicated relationship. On one hand he knows she is a Terminator and is programmed to protect him but he still likes her (Charley even points to John that he is looking at Cameron like he looked at a girl in the past, I believe that's a deleted scene). Does Cameron love him? She does seem to go beyond her programming at times that indicates she might. However, when she tries to kill him in "Samson & Delilah" (because her chip was damaged) he grows more distant from her. After Riley Dawson (his girlfriend) dies, he seems to grow close to her again as he chooses her over his mother (by leaving Sarah behind in the past).
John Connor and Derek Reese (his uncle, played by Brian Austin Green) have a uncle and nephew relationship. There is NO romance between the two. They are friendly to each other and Derek still respects John but doesn't like that John trusts Cameron so much or that John is still acting like a kid. That being said, Derek still notices when John nearly kills himself (it's not said if it was a suicide attempt, but I'm with the theory that he did try and kill himself) that he's not a kid anymore. When Derek dies John is noticeably shock and saddened by the experience (though he tells Savannah Weaver that Derek was just a friend).
Finally, John Connor and Riley Dawson have a very complicated relationship. Also, if you don't want the majority of Season 2 ruined for you skip this part.
Continuing: John decides to date Riley because he is growing separated from his family (Cameron included). He then seems to revel in the fact that he can be normal with her. In one episode he even runs away to Mexico with her. He later learns that Riley is being used by Jesse Flores (who is Derek Reese's love interest and former Resistance Fighter) to get inbetween him and Cameron. This is where the relationship grows really selfish. He knows that Riley probably doesn't love him and doesn't tell her that he knows her secret. If he had been more open Riley wouldn't have died (Jesse ended up killing Riley). I blame John and NOT Derek for what happened.
So that's John in the tv series. If there was a Season 3 we could probably expect to follow him along more and find out:
1.) Does he find Cameron?
2.) Why Cameron left the way she did.
3.) Does he and Allison Young get into a relationship?
As a last note: The point where John "grows up" into the future leader is Today is the Day Part 2 (Season 2).
