Character Info
Character Name: Ariadne
Character’s Age: Not specified in canon, but probably early-mid 20s. I'll say 23.
Fandom: Inception
Timeline: From close to the end of the film, after saving Fischer and Cobb from limbo and throwing herself off the top of the building.
Appearance: Short and slight, Ariadne stands at a meager 5'1, and her figure is a boyish one, but she carries herself with an air of confidence and subtle sophistication. She has long, wavy brown hair she obviously takes good care of, and her preferred wardrobe is practical with just a touch of French elegance, consisting of scarves and cardigans made of soft, comfortable fabrics, jeans or corduroys, and shoes made for walking.
History: Ariadne's history can be found at the Inception wiki, here.
Personality: Probably the best way to describe Ariadne would be straightforward. She's got a good, practical head on her shoulders, and has a keenly observant mind; she's always watching what's going on around her, taking mental notes, constructing theories and images in her mind. Whereas most creative minds would get lost in the clouds with such thoughts, she has a keen grasp on reality, which has come in very handy in her newfound profession as a dream architect; one who designs the landscape of a dream for the dreamers.

She has a passion for creativity and pushing the boundaries, which can occasionally get her in trouble. Once or twice, she has forged ahead without forethought - the most notable time being when Dom Cobb first showed her a shared dream. Excited and exhilarated by the possibilities, she began molding the world around her, but when Cobb's subconscious projections noticed and attacked her, she quickly learned the value of caution and preparing herself beforehand. Now, even if she does get in trouble, she's usually sensible and quick-thinking enough to be able to think of a solution or a way out of a potentially dangerous situation, which came in very handy when she and her Inception team became trapped in the dream world.

When she first joined the team, she was initially overwhelmed by the sheer volume of new realities open to her, and all the uncertainty that came with that - along with the uncertainty of working with Dom Cobb. He seemed to her to be far too volatile in his headspace, with his projection of his dead wife haunting his dreams. That, and the inherent danger in such a thing potentially happening to her should she agree to work with him, both frightened and alarmed Ariadne considerably, and at first she let that fear get the better of her. But in the end, that innate and sometimes incautious curiosity brought her back. After all, dream-sharing and, more importantly, dream-building was something she had never experienced before: The chance to create things that could never exist in reality, the whole gamut of imaginative possibilities now open to her. It was too much of an incredible, mind-bending opportunity to pass up, and so she took the job, vowing to herself to be careful this time.

Despite that, Ariadne can be nosy at times - she has a tendency to pry where she isn't needed or wanted. She has to know things, and that desire for knowledge has often been a driving force behind her actions. She was so curious about Cobb and the projection of his dead wife that she shared a dream of his without his permission, and as a result, was almost killed - again - by the ghost of Mal Cobb. Despite this, she was determined not to let her fear get in the way of her safety as well as the safety of the rest of the team. She felt honor-bound to stick by Cobb to make sure he didn't inadvertently bring Mal into the equation, but he ended up doing so anyway; in learning what Cobb had done to her to feel such guilt over his wife's death, Ariadne helped him to finally let go of his past demons, and they escaped from limbo - the furthest depth of any dream layer, from which there is usually no escape - together.

It's not just some noble sense of selflessness that lies behind Ariadne's actions, though. She is loyal, and genuinely cares for people, even when her opinion of them is less than flattering. She respects people who know what they're talking about, and has little time for those who don't, although she's polite enough if she has to be. Some might call this arrogance, but she can occasionally be tactful about it and bite back the sharp-edged wit of her tongue.

It's Ariadne's innate creativity that truly defines her as a person. She is a thinker, a dreamer, a creator, and whether she's in a dream or not, she is who she is, and she makes no apologies for that.

Powers/Abilities: While dream-sharing via use of a PASIV device, which administers a special kind of sedative and enables people to share a single dream, Ariadne can mold and morph the landscape to her will, create things and places with but a thought, and basically mess around with physics so much that Newton and Einstein would be spinning in their graves. Diagonally.
Limitations: Well, since Bell Pointe isn't a dream (OR IS IT) and she doesn't have a PASIV device of her own, poor Ariadne won't be able to do any of that. At all. :D

Writing Samples
Third Person Sample: Dreams were strange. Ariadne had never experienced any as vivid as she had under the influence of Somnacin, while dream-sharing - she could understand how people became addicted to it, how they ceased being able to dream without it. The fuzzy, ill-formed dreams of a normal sleep just couldn't compare to the crisp, real sharpness of a shared dream.

It was as if everything snapped into focus as soon as you looked at it. Details that weren't there before, a vagueness that wouldn't be noticed by an untrained mind, vanished as soon as the thought crossed your mind. The subject of a dream wouldn't notice, of course, but as the dreamer or the architect of that dream, Ariadne could see it. She could get right in between the space between perception and creation and change anything she wanted.

In a way, the power of that was god-like, but that kind of thought never crossed her mind. It was still just a dream, and whatever impossible scenario she might be able to create, she knew that when she woke up the normal rules of physics would apply.

But that didn't change the fact that in here, in the dream world...she could do anything. Anything at all.

And what was she choosing to do in this particular instance? Well, she was choosing to sit in a recreation of a cafe on a busy French street, drinking French coffee, and watching the peop- projections of her subconscious bustle to and fro.

Hey, no one said dream-building had to be wildly exciting all the time. For once? It was nice to just relax in a place where she knew she was at home - in her own head.

First Person Sample: [Then who was phone call]

Right. If this is a dream, it's a pretty messed-up one, and if I find out whose it is, I'm going to - going to -

[She gives a small, sharp sigh, and some fumbling on the other end of the phone. Ariadne's shifted hands, and there's a rustling of clothes and shortness of her breath that indicates she's walking, and has been for a while.] Never mind.

Is there even any point in me making this call? [Projections, in her experience, generally aren't very helpful. And if this place is populated only by projections...well, she could be in trouble.]

Just...if anyone knows what's going on, I'd really like to know...anything. Anything about this place at all. [And she adds, under her breath - ] And I'd like to know why I can't change anything, if this really is a dream...
