Happy holidays from Cindy the Chestnut Reindeer & I:

(yes, i'm aware that we're both dorks.)

5 days until Christmas. I have not yet bought one gift. This? = Not good.

8 Days until SIXMAS! It is going to be wonderful.

Other than countdowns and playing with my pony (she'd resent that statement...she's 15.2hh), nothing interesting has been going on. My neighbor Matt had a seizure during his second period class on Friday, which is pretty frightening, but he's alright.

I've been feeling a lot more like I belong at the barn now. Like, I'm no longer just a lesson rider, I feel like I fit in with the boarders. I think it's because there are a lot more kids around. They're mostly the hunters, but Zach is on our side of the barn and he has Willie, plus Arielle and Tee Tardee. They all have horses, though, except Erica and Nicole (two 11 year old girls who follow me around. Cathy asked me if it felt like I had groupies, LOL). I just kinda shuffle between Teddy (Cathy's horse) and Cindy (who is probably the closest i'll get to owning a horse for another ten years...I spoil her like she's my own but I can't ride her outside of lessons). Along with not being the only kid around anymore, I've got a lot more responsibility with the horses. I love that. For instance, Cathy has a lesson at noon with a beginner rider now so I'll help the girl (Allison) get Teddy all ready, which is always more fun than stalls. And when Jaque got hurt two weeks ago, I held him and kept him calm and still while Cathy fixed him up. It makes being around the barn a lot more fun.

Cindy's been doing great. I couldn't be any happier, considering a month and a half ago I was about ready to give up working with her 'cause I thought I was doing her more harm than good. We've been doing so well these past few weeks that I want to take her to an Intro level show next spring, and I think Cathy wants me to, too. And since Allison will be riding Teddy on saturdays for a while, I'll have Cindy to myself for at least the next few weeks. Cathy's going to let me free ride Teddy sometimes, though, so that I don't get Cindy-sour and get any bad habits again.

So yeah, it's been awesome.
