[Someone has found his communicator. He figures it out relatively quickly, despite how utterly simple in design it is.]

Anyone reading me here?

Don't worry, I won't. Did someone give you the- [She pauses, actually bothers to look.]

Yeah, alright. So, what's your story?

One minute I was dodging hydrogen trees, then I'm getting sucked up into a Drej ship, now I'm here. You want the publishing rights?

Okay, the Drej part I've picked up, what hydrogen tree?

[You have her interest now, Cale]

Yeah, back on planet Sesharrim. Went there to see the Gaoul about some map.

[She makes a soft scoffing sound] Great context you got there, space man.

What, you want to know about the trees?

autodidacticone June 22 2010, 18:18:41 UTC
Yes, but I mean...you're not giving me any context.

I don't know of any planet named "Sasharrim" or what a Goaul is. Or. Who the Goaul are. OR what pronoun to use, I mean honestly.

[she's gesturing with her soldering iron now. There's a brief buzzing sound, and then a few curses.]

Look, what's your name? I'm Kim Ross.

Cale Tucker.

As for hydrogen trees, they grow in the swamps on the planet. They're about twenty meters in diameter and are naturally occurring. You pop one of them and you won't be writing letters back home. [Blah blah technical details.]

Sasharrim is a planet in the [blah blah obscure sector of space]. The Gaoul are sort of birdlike people. Seemed primitive to me, fairly tribal in culture as far I could tell. They don't seem to speak basic, but my [...] dad made contact with them, apparently.

[Oooh...daddy issues. Kim can relate-- and she's impressed by how not idiotic you so far seem to be.]

Wow, someone who can actually give a decent account.

Nice to meet you, Cale Tucker.

You just caught me in a fairly good mood. [He's trapped, sure. But it's better than where he could be trapped.]

So, what are you, some kind of...vampire, maybe? Weird alien creature? Tell me you're at least a psychopath.

[Oh hello happy mood. since when do you have the right to come hang out in Kim's head?]

Worse than all of that. Human. [He's not even allowed into high class places.]

Well. Me too.

[Yay another in the "we humans suck" camp!]

Human cyborg, anyways. The aliens and whatnot are in the minority here, actually-- Seems like the humans are in charge, more or less. As much as anyone is, with that psychotic Captain hanging over us.

Might have to broaden your definition a little.
