Al roads lead to -- France ?! (aka They were Fruitful and Multiplied)
More specifically, all lines lead to Charlemagne. I have been working on my mom's side of my family tree. It is involving a lot of looking things up on the internet and a lot of data entry (much thanks to Kath for the family tree - making program!). I'm going slowly crazy, but it's all fun.
I don't know how many kids Charlemagne had by how many wives, but I find I'm descended from him through about five lines now. I knew I had English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, and German ancestry, but I wouldn't have guessed about the French connection. I've also found (going way back) ancestors in Italy, Poland, Sweden, Norway, and Russia. It's like doing archaeology - you just never know what is going to turn up next.
