All Things Amazing

Dec 06, 2008 22:52

Some interesting things have happened this week in FBR/Decaydance land. Well. Really only Decaydance land...since both bands are originals of that label...sort of. Anyway.

Number One.
LIVE IN CHICAGO COME OUT!!!
I can not even begin to explain the amazingness that came from that DVD. Wow. I shall just give you pictures instead. They say it all anyway.

Shane had this thing with Ryan. He just couldn't seem to stop taking pictures of him. Pretty much the whole "A Picture with Books" is of Ryan.

My favorite picture of Jon from the book. He looks like he just rolled out of bed after being completely drunk the night before and borrowed one of Ryan's shirts cause he couldn't find his own. Jon Walker you rule.

Kinda the only decent picture of Spencer in the whole thing. There are others, but he is all alone in them and looks sad. D:

I love you. There is nothing more to say.

The only outfit of Ryan's that has ever made me look at him instead of Brendon.

Jon Walker and his nature.

Shane can match his colors. Be proud.

Hooked on Phonics. Panic style.

Number Two.
Ready to Reinvent Love? Spencer and Brendon are...well, maybe just Spencer.

You performed with Snoop Dogg on FNMTV. On a scale of one to Snoop Dogg, how stoned were you for that entire tour?
Well… I don’t know. I mean, the thing is that… There’s just so much down time! And then you’re sitting there, and it’s like three in the afternoon, and you’re already tired because, you know, you smoked a couple joints. And you get that paranoid feeling that you’re that burnout guy in high school, and you kind of forget that you’re even in a band, and start imagining what you’d be doing if you’re not on a tour bus. Like, God, I’d be the guy in the one-bedroom apartment who’s just getting fucked up every day. But then that kind of steers you back to -- I think it was Snoop Dogg that said you can’t smoke every day. So I would say probably halfway between one and Snoop Dogg.

When I talked to Pete Wentz about how your sound and look have changed, he said, “They’re more gay in a totally other way.” What do you think he meant?
[Laughs] He sounds so smart, you know... Let me try to dissect what that could possibly mean. It’s definitely true that we’re totally gay, and that’s the first point that should be made. When we came out with the first record, there was a very specific style and look that we had for that. Then a lot of people thought that it was really strange that we weren’t just going to perform under a circus top forever. So I think that what he’s trying to say is that the first album, people thought we were gay, especially Brendon -- which may be true. Undetermined at this point. He doesn’t have a wife, so… And on the second album, they thought we were gay, but like gay hippies with beards. And so it is a whole other kind of gay. It’s still there, it’s just presented a little bit differently. But maybe that’s completely bullshit. Maybe even Pete couldn’t figure out what he meant.

I love you Spencer Smith, but now I hate you your big mouth at the same time. No one needs to know that you actually smoke that much and Brendon should have gotten the chance to come out on his own.

Number Three.
Someone leaked Folie a Deux today. It sounds AMAZING! This album sounds nothing like what they have in the past. It still has a Fall Out Boy feel to it, but it sounds like actual music to me now. The other stuff was just too much drums and guitar for me. I could never get into it. And 20 Dollar Nose Bleed is...wow. The piano part is brilliant, and I am pretty sure that Brendon came up with it. I really hope that he will think about getting to do the stuff with the piano when they write the new record. I really want to hear more piano on it. Maybe even a solo if I get lucky. :D
