025. Seven Deadly Sins - June/July - Rambles & Snippets - Fiction[NET]

Jun 13, 2006 21:45

The seven deadly sins, each so defined, elegant and desired. Nate didn't see them all to be a sin exactly, not compared to say... raping and stealing, or killing. Why weren't they sins?
How was pride a sin anyway? In great amount it was of course, but isn't everything bad in great amounts? Some envy was healthy as well, if you didn't envy what others had or could do that you didn't and couldn't, then where was the drive to be better and earn it?
How was lust bad as well? It wasn't like you could help liking another person. Nate mused over this as he played with Monica's hair lazily, pretending to follow the script reading as they read aloud but really he doodled in his pace taking book, scrawling the seven deadly sins in gothic lettering across the page.
Greed was dribbling all over the page lazily while gluttony was fat and shiny. Wrath was jaggered and scratchy while sloth was trickling down the page as if rain slowly sliding down a window pane. Envy was elegant and curved, almost dignified in its arrogance, and lust was airy, clean and clear cut on the page. Pride was the hardest to draw though, and Nate lost himself in trying to decide how to draw it as a word that he didn't notice that everyone was waiting for him to read his line.
Monica nudged him quickly. If they didn't stay on the ball they'd be asked to separate, their trainer assuming the fact that they were lying against each other was too much of a distraction for Nate to handle.
"Uhh.." he quickly scanned the page for his next Kyou line. The play they were doing was a script version of a japanese manga and anime series called Fruits Basket, and as the cat Kyou he had been left out of the zodiac after being tricked by the rat - Yuki, which was being played by one of the new additions to the class, Aiden, a strangely feminine male who had just moved to Australia from Ireland. He had actually moved over with his girlfriend, Minya, who was to be playing Kisa, the tiger.
"I'll be the strongest, and I'll beat you - you stupid rat!" Nate read out a little too hurriedly, aware the teacher was watching him with a frown. "And I'll take my place in the family at last, just you wait and see!"
The female best of their class responded after an even beat, her voice already in perfect character. "Oh Kyou, does this mean you'll become apart of the calendar?"
"That's impossible." Aiden responded with disgust in his voice. "That stupid cat can never be part of the family. He never has, and never will."
"And end of scene." Their trainer rose to her feat and began handing out the notes she had taken on each character. "Try to pay a little more attention next time Nate."
Already though, his mind was back on the sins.
