004. Insides - Kaddar//Keladryie - 100_original

He leaned back in his chair, arching his back until it cracked and then he settled once more into the plush armchair, slightly miffed by how comfortable the expensive piece of furniture was, but also not exactly arguing about it.
"Comfortable?" her tone was slightly mocking, a teasing smile on her lips as she watched him with her arms folding. To anyone else it could sound almost like an insult, or at least not exactly friendly, but he knew better.
"Not enough, not yet." he grinned at her and patted his lap, holding out his arms until she relented and sat in his lap, curling her head to rest on his shoulder. Kaddar rested his arms around her comfortably, his head against hers after he pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Comfortable?" he asked teasingly, chuckling as she grumbled something under her breath and then cuddled against him affectionately and fell still, in the mood for a doze while her partner was planning to sit still for a while.

How things changed. Just months ago even, all he got from her was a glare and a nasty comment. Although he hadn't exactly been nasty to her, he hadn't exactly been polite either, not in the beginning anyway, because after all; he was a Verona and as such he had been raised to not have much time or positive thoughts over an Altec. It had all turned out to be their fathers just being petty though, since they had, obviously, found a soul mate (for lack of a better word) in each other which had been more of a surprise to them than it had been to anyone else.
Kaddar trailed his fingers through her hair softly, careful not to disturb his appearing-to-be-sleeping girlfriend. Things had changed quickly, from him avoiding females and her avoiding everyone...him being tongue tied with woman and she bitchy and angry with everyone...him childishly cheerful and she cold and inhuman to a couple who were so affectionate and strong as a pair. He could now approach anyone he liked and have a conversation, although Will just said that was because Kaddar now had Kella who would knock out anyone who made a move on him.
Now he was more adult, although still a goof and although she could have cold spells with people she didn't want to waste her time with, sometimes it was hard to remember her last hurtful comment to someone. She was now happy and would even go out of her way to help out someone, friend or associate instead of just leaving them to lead their own lives, struggle as they might.
Love could change a lot, it was a scary word, but it fit it perfectly. Kaddar trailed his thumb gently down her nose, making her snuffle in her sleep and him smile. He knew her better than anyone in the world, which wasn't a title to pass over lightly. He knew her better than her family knew her, better than any teacher or anyone in her past, simply because he had moulded to her, and moulded her to himself as well. He hadn't acted scared of her or teased her about her father or past, he hadn't avoided her, he hadn't played her, he had simply treated her normally and that’s what won her over in the end. He had welcomed all her faults and yet at the same time, hadn't let them be acceptable. He knew her, insides and out, and loved all of her because it was impossible for him not to.

She shuffled around in her sleep and he immediately shifted down in his seat a little so she could lie down a little more. Will gave him hell since he always bent to Kel's needs before anyone could blink, he said it wasn't manly enough and yet he couldn't understand that it was simply what love was.
"You're thinking too much." she murmured sleepily, one of her hands finding the back of his neck where she started to play with his hair soothingly. "Anything wrong?"
"Nah..." he tilted the chair back suddenly, making her swear and then hit him with a grin once she had resettled from nearly falling out of the chair at the sudden drastic change in degree. She rested her head on folded arms on his chest and gazed up at him. "What were or are you thinkin' about then?"
"About you." he ran a finger down her nose again and grinned at her, resting an arm behind his head so he could see her better. "How we've both changed so much..."
"Ohh, this again." Keladryie tried to sound bored, but a smile was tugging at the corner of her lips.
"Shutup, It's interesting." Kaddar grinned infectiously and rubbed the back of his neck. "You were so...cruel, before."
"I still am." she demanded as if it was something to be proud of, her grin and her hand finding his not exactly proving her point. "I'm still a horrible bitch."
"Not as much and not to just everyone anymore. I have tamed the wild beast!"
"Ha, you wish, that's what you love most about me." with that, she moved up closer and licked him roughly on his cheek, making him blush and push her away.
"You wouldn't do that even if you were paid a million dollars to anyone a few months ago..." he pointed out after a long beat, making her narrow her eyes slightly. He had technically won.
After a long silence, Keladryie relaxed again against his chest. "Rei says you couldn't really talk to a female before I came along." she mused aloud, "And yet when I first met you...you wouldn't shut up..."
Kaddar looked at her with an amused look on his face but didn't say a word.
"So, I wonder why I made such a difference." Keladryie smiled up at him, waiting for him to reply.
"...So, you want me to tell you that it was your emerald sparkling eyes, your toned butt and your bell like laugh?" Kaddar asked, only to catch her hand as she moved to hit him.
"Because..." he looked at her seriously, knowing that she was simply (for once) in the mood to be sweet and truthful, almost romantic. "When I first saw you, you didn't scare me and you didn't make me uneasy. You were just you, truthful and pure, not like those girls who are crafty and lie and scam anyone for all they have...you were strong, you were beautiful and elegant...you were just...an awesome being. And then of course I like annoying my Dad." Keladryie hit him this time, he caught her hand after she'd hit him and held it in his with a smile.
"What's all this 'were'?" she asked teasingly, a rosy tint to her cheeks. "As in I'm not anymore?"
"As in, you were then even when we hadn't shared a word. I could feel all that from just looking at you. You were electric." Kaddar drew her close and kissed her softly, winding a finger through a curl in her hair as they eventually parted. "And you still are, honey..."
They lay together for a moment in comfortable silence until Kaddar tugged her hair softly. "What about me?"
"...My first thoughts, my very first, were of how I dreaded to have another 'idiot male' around, and how completely gorgeous you were as well." Keladryie replied softly, squeezing his hand gently. "It was kind of eerie, I could never see how your Dad could be the father of someone so..." she trailed off with a blush, she'd never been able to be so truthful with soppy words. "But then when I saw your Dad again I could see where you got it from and then I felt disgusted so I avoided you even more...but..." she sighed. "Basically...you scared me. I wish I could say something romantic, or something that you want to hear...but...you scared me, because your smile and the way you...stuck around me...were so good, you didn't annoy me and you struck me with a feeling that...things were going to change and I didn't feel in control anymore..."
"I find that romantic..." Kaddar reassured her softly, "Because...well...we felt each other. And at least you didn't hate me, and you found me hot." he leaned in closer with a grin and kissed her gently, she was blushing and looking already uncomfortable with the whole talk, especially since she was afraid of making him feel bad.
"Kel, it means a lot." he kissed her hand. "Because you hate everyone on sight. And you didn't hate me."
"Pretty hard to." She grumbled. "Although your smile made me want to punch you..."
"Why?"
"I'm not saying."
"Aww, c'mon Kel..."
"No, forget I even brought it up."
Knowing that evil was needed to get the evil out, Kaddar promptly started tickling her and within seconds they had both fallen from the chair and Kaddar was pinned under an irate Keladryie.
"Because, idiot. It made me like you. A lot." she growled out, glaring down at him.
Kaddar simply smiled up at her making her glare fade before she kissed him lightly at first, and then deeper.
"I love you." he murmured after she eventually pulled away. "And I love how you love me."
"You're sure of yourself." she muttered, curling up against his chest once more, even though they were still on the ground. "Do you know that for a fact?"
"Sure I do." he grinned infectiously at her.
"How?"
"Because I know you. All about you. From your insides to your outs. And that’s how it’s going to be always. Always and forever."
