I dislike my hometown, but I love going home, even if it's only for a day or two. Always interesting.
-- Got home about midnight last night, and I immediately woke both my 12 year old sister and my stepdad up with an array of shakes, punches, and elbows................although it took 3 whole minutes to get my sister up. she's starting to become a freaking rock, playing 4 sports 12 months a year. 5'0" (let's just say my mom's only 5'6" and my stepdad's only 5'5") and 120 pounds, and it's all pure muscle (with amazing reflexes......she'll definitely be going to college on a softball scholarship, probably to the University of Alabama). Plus she's developed my appetite..........I can just see my parents cringing over the grocery bill. Definitely have trouble picking her up nowadays..............I remember before I went to MSMS, when she was only 2 and I'd carry her on my shoulders around the neighborhood and to the arcade with me so I could shoot some billiards. I think those days are officially done.
-- While my mom was saying grace at Thanksgiving dinner tonight, I peeked up and saw my stepdad's eyes open, so I closed my eyes, then blurted out "Patrick has his eyes open". After 2 seconds of silence, staring, and confusion, everyone just started laughing (minus my 19 year old sister, who was too busy surfing the net and chatting to eat dinner with us.........mainly because she had Thanksgiving lunch with my cousins 5 hours beforehand), then my mom said one more line and Amen, called me a nutjob, then it was off to the turkey and ham processing. Wonder if anyone else has ever pulled anything like that at Thanksgiving dinner and not gotten the shit slapped out of their mouth. Glad my family doesn't take holidays seriously (except as an excuse to not be at work........now that, they take seriously).
-- Well, in between watching 90% of the "That 70's Show" marathon and watching the 2 NFL games, played a game of Clue (another family "tradition") and caused much damage to the rest of the family's egos. Trust me, this was the highlight of my day....................especially since my stepdad didn't buy any booze........oh well, guess I gotta wait until Christmas dinner to have drunken conversations with the family.
-- The Shield, Season 5, January 10, 2006...........it's fucking on. I hope the Season 4 DVD comes out soon.......there were 5 or so episodes I didn't get to see.........and I'd like to see the episode where Andre 3000 is a comic-book store owner who sprays the prostitutes that pick up johns in front of his store.......fucking classic. "Just hosing off the hoes, officer, just hosing off the hoes!!"
-- I think when I come down for Christmas, I'm gonna go out to a few of the blues bars here that I couldn't get into when I was younger. Sounds like fun, although I'm gonna have to call up some old friends of mine to go with........don't think it'd be wise to go alone..............not in the middle of downtown Clarksdale at 12:00 at night.........just plain stupid. Of course, stupid hasn't stopped me much from doing other things, so maybe I just need a gun...........
-- Went outside for 30 minutes to enjoy the fresh Delta air and play catch with my sister, and saw that all my neighbors are black......when we moved into our current house 10 years ago.........all of the houses on our block, save 2 and ours, were occupied by white people............my how things have changes..........guess we scared 'em off.
Hope everyone had a fun (read: turkey and booze-filled) Thanksgiving!!!!! See some of y'all tomorrow back in Starkvegas, others on the flip side. I'm gonna go let the tryptophan kick in
