Today I went to the Home Depot store:
Mundy Township #2763
1222 West Hill Road
Mundy Township, MI 48507
to purchase the
Brinly 40 In. Tow-Behind Dethatcher
Model DT-40BH .
One of the workers there, I don't remember his name, looked it up on the computer when we couldn't find any on the shelf and confirmed the store was out of the product. He did a product search and told me the store on Pierson Rd
North Flint #2765
5300 Pierson Road
Flushing, MI 48433
had three of the de-thatchers. I said I had been through the "they have it on the computer --but don't actually have the product in the store" thing before, would he call the store and find out if they actually have the thatcher.
He called while I stood there. He talked to someone called "Tina" she confirm that they did in fact have them on the floor.
So I drove across town to the Pierson Rd store. When I arrived they could not find one thatcher, let alone the 3 that are listed in the computer on the floor. Who should come around the corner, but "Tina" from the phone. When I explained why I was there, she said she didn't expect me there so soon and that the thatchers were still on the truck or in that area. She sent someone back to check it out. And I continued to stand there.....When she returned she said she was sorry, but there was just too must stock back there and they were too busy unloading the UPS truck, there was nothing she could do.
I asked to talk to the Manager. I was told she was in a "meeting" and could not be disturbed. She suggested I talk to the service desk.
I won't lie, I was pretty well pissed off by this point. I went to the service desk and asked to see a manager and was shuttled to a "Jessica". I didn't see that she was a manager on her tag. When I told her my story so far, she seemed outraged and said she would send someone back and I would be getting the thatcher. And I waited.....and waited.......and waited. 45 minutes later, and I know this as I bought a pop and the time was on the receipt, "Jessica" came back and was extremely apologetic. She said she had called the other stores and can't get a thatcher. She said while the computer said there was 3 in store they were never shipped.
I said this is all well and fine but...We called the store before I drove across town. I was told by "Tina" they were in fact on the floor. I stood here waiting because "Jessica" promised me they would find them. "Jessica" said how sorry she was and that she didn't know what she could do. That she would offer me a product up grade, but they there isn't one.
I find this interesting as there is bigger one on the web site. What could she have done ???? She could have given me a gift card/store credit for the half a tank of gas I used in coming to the store after I called to make sure the product was there. --Not to mention the 2 hours I spent between the 2 stores. She could have taken my address and offered to have one shipped to my house when they came in. She could have taken my phone number to call me when they came in.
She could have had me order it on line and they pay the postage.
There were a number of things that could have been done.
I could understand if I had just shown up and you didn't have what I was looking for. I called ahead of time, was told the item was in stock.
I doubt I will be returning to your store in the future.
Sincerely,
Angelynn Gebstadt
