I've decided to make my journal Friends-Only. If your not on my friends list please send me an email or post a comment so I can add your username to my friends list.
Nothing happened. Even when I started this journal I was a little wary of raising my visibility to the online world. Now that I'm kind of hooked on it, I realize that I'm putting a fair amount of personal info in my posts. I don't mind my friends having access to that, but I don't think that I'd want EVERYONE to have that kind of access to my life.
I'm also trying to get used to trusting a third party with personal info like this. The LiveJournal Terms of Service make no guarantees that the journals are kept secure. It's obviously in their best interest to keep them secure, but if they get hacked you are SOL. It's the classic problem of making things easy to access for the people you want to have access and keeping out all others. I have to trust that LiveJournal is doing this well.
Well, I figure as long as I'm not putting personal information like phone numbers, addresses etc, I'm ok. And if those do go up, they'd go up under a friends only post, but even then I don't really like doing that.

Perhaps I'm just paranoid.
