hey,

so lately i've been getting into this new thing, it's called "not going out all the time". basically what you do is, when you get home from work, you stay there until you go to sleep. it's pretty awesome. you don't overcommit yourself to gigs/social events/happenings, and you generally have the evening free to watch the sopranos. i think i'm getting addicted to it.

also, how awesome is this guy?! i love you paulie.

tonight i'm breaking this new found habit and heading down to the velvet lounge for the ambassador from everywhere gig. should be fun.

also at the moment i am reading this book:

it tells the tale of post-war rock'n'roll in japan and how the culmination of rock music and avant-garde performance created an underground culture of drugs, music and the search for infinity, which developed during the late 60s and early 70s in japan, facilitating the creation of some of the trippiest music in history. i am currently attempting to acquiant myself with the work a J.A Caesar, who made rock/sound design hybrids for trippy japanese plays. check out the cover of his album kokkyou junreika:

how awesome is that? unfortunately the cover slightly oversells the album, but i intend to give it a few more listens to see if it unleashes some mystical japanese psychedelic spell upon me...

i am also listening to the new sunset rubdown album, entitled 'dragonslayer'. i loved their previous album 'random spirit lover' a lot, and to be honest, in comparisson, unfortunately 'dragonslayer' just isn't living up to the precedent laid down by that masterful and brilliant album. i'll stick with it though in the hope that it might unleash some mystical sunset rubdown spell upon me.

also, i had a dream the other night that i was at a urinal next to kevin rudd. he tried to offer me a job in the government.

what else? we have cooked some pretty awesome pasta recipes lately. one i cooked was spaghetti with leeks and peas in a mint, pine nut and parmesan pesto. very green! also, michelle cooked one with a leek, carrot and cream sauce - all blended up and served with spinach and ricotta agnolotti. it was delicious!

ok, that's probably enough for now. later!
