Questions I Am Sick Of Hearing

Okay, I know I owe you an entry for this week past week, but here's what we're going to do: I'm going to try to do one on Friday or Saturday before I leave, summarizing the past two weeks, so that when I get back I can talk about Istanbul in one entry. Sound cool?

In the meantime, I've been thinking a lot about the stupid questions I've been asked while here. When meeting new people, it's common to want to get to know them better. Sometimes that person has an experience that's very different from your own, so you ask questions. Unfortunately, there are certain questions that are not acceptable, in my opinion. Things you just don't ask someone, especially someone you haven't met. These questions basically center around my sexuality, mental health, and my family. The common thread through all of them? They all make huge assumptions, and they are all way too personal.
Trigger warning: language used is the same as in original questions, and is offensive

So here it is, a list of questions I am sick of being asked:

When did you become a lesbian?
Aren't you straight, though?
So you'll have sex with anyone, then?
Do you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend?
But you're the girl in the relationship, right?
Am I your type?
But which gender are you really into?
So are you actually a dyke?
Is Anxiety even real? I mean, everyone gets nervous about things.
But, like, what's your actual diagnosis?
Why do you need medication for that?
Aren't we overmedicated, like, as a nation?
What's the worst that could happen?
So what happens if you don't take your meds? Do you go crazy?
Do you hear voices?
Was your childhood, like, really fucked up?
Why are you so crazy, then?
When will you be cured?
Do you think autism is caused by vaccines?
Yeah, but there are so many people with that diagnosis, how do you know he's not faking?
Is he dangerous?
But he won't, like, attack me, right?
Will he be able to take care of himself?
So your brother's retarded?
Wait, are your parents also disabled?
Why would you have kids if you knew you had those genes?
Why don't you want kids of your own?
What are you going to do with a degree in that?
But how are you going to make money?
Is that realistic?
How will you support yourself?

I don't understand what your problem is, it was just a little question!

autism, mental health, glbt, rants
