Stories

Today I submitted a short story (called A Troubling Dream) to A Public Space, a literary magazine. The story's about 1,500 words and is about a gay couple and a lesbian couple, each with one member that wants to get a sex change, and what this does to their relationship. We'll see what happens. I'm collecting names of other magazines I can submit to if it doesn't get in.

I've also submitted Angel's Story to Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award. The quarterfinalists will be announced on March 16. If I get that, semifinalists are announced April 15. The three finalists are announced May 15 and until May 21 users on Amazon dot com can vote for their favorite. These votes will determine the winner, who will be announced May 22 on Amazon.com. Again, we'll see what happens. While this contest is going on, I'll be working to make an even better version of Angel's Story. If I have that finished and am eliminated from the contest, I'll start sending it to agents. If I win the contest I obviously won't, but if I don't win then I have something to start sending it out.

Next November I am also planning on participating in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The idea is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. The idea is quantity, not quality, and it seems like a great writing exercise. After I finish I'll probably edit it and try to get it published too. We'll see.

more triksy, writing, stories, it's like a bad recap episode, yay
