Conversation I had with a French guy I post this:
Ask me five questions about my country or culture. You can ask me about
anything. Is every Colombian a drug dealer? Is all the country a
jungle? Are all the Colombian women beautiful? Does democracy exist in
your country? To remind you: I am Colombian.

I am aware that what the media say about our country is...well... just a tiny bit of the reality of it (that is applicable to whatever the media says about any subject, BTW) but I find especially amusing when a foreigner (like the French guy I helped yesterday) say something like: OMG! You got Museums??? Actually I’m surprised that Bogotá is such a big city, I though that Colombia was a big jungle”
But again, what you say about Chicago is very true. I don’t know anything about that city, but what I have seen on TV (cop, sci-fi and forensic shows) or read on the books (thrillers and related subjects); the mental image I have of Chicago is something like a big city, near to an equally big lake, that is very very cold, with and architecture based on red bricks, and full of Italian guys, that fight against Irish guys over Jewish territories, Oh! And between all of this there is some cow starting a fire. I’m sure nothing farther from the true.
