I often tell people, "I'm been going to Cape Cod since I was a fetus." Which really, isn't a lie at all. My grandparents built their house in Eastham in the late 1960s. My dad would spend entire summer's up there as a kid, and they even lived up there for a year or two, but still kept their house in Connecticut. My Dad met my Mom in high school, and she started visiting the Cape with him and his family too. Eventually they got married, still continuing to go every summer, and then had my brother and I, and we've been going as a family every summer since. My parents did get divorced when I was 13, but I still go with my father & brother every single summer for 2 weeks. It's my second home.
I know Eastham/Orleans better than I know my neighboring towns in Connecticut. It's my favorite place on Earth, so I decided to get "our spot" on First Encounter Beach (a bay beach in North Eastham) as a tattoo.
These are the coordinates to that spot - the spot on First Encounter we always go to.
The spot with the best sun set you'll ever see on the Cape.
The spot with so many memories.
The spot that symbolizes all those summers on Cape Cod.
The spot that hopefully I will return to every summer with my own family.
The spot that I will continue to go to for the rest of my life.
Eastham, MA, my summer's wouldn't be the same without you.
