today is 100% better than yesterday.  i found my key under my dresser.  i blame ramona, the little sneak.

details, details, details...

hutch's party was awesome.  it got a little weird there at the end there, but other than that it was a good time.  we did not let the rain dampen our spirits.  literally.  my favorite part was watching all the guys playing baseball in the pouring rain.  jeans rolled up, no shoes, covered in orange mud, yelling 5th grade obscenities at each other.  dan hill on the pitcher's mound, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, beer in non-pitching hand, attempting to run and tag people at first base.

paul westerberg show: good stuff.  he played lots of replacements songs, like "here comes the regular," "little mascara," "can't hardly wait," a couple verses of what i think was supposed to be "beer for breakfast," and yes, he played "alex chilton" as the big finale.  unfortunately i wasn't standing near nick, but it's safe to say he melted into a heart-shaped puddle.  mr. westerberg also played "born for me," which is my favorite of all his solo stuff.  he also proved that he's such a rockstar that he can play a partidge family song, while wearing white pants and a flowy pink pirate shirt and still look cool.  me and dmsitarski got to see a tiny man first get shots delivered to him on the floor, and then we watched his ass get delivered to the pavement a little while later, courtesy of a bouncer.  very amusing.

the wedding: everything was beautiful.  the dress, the flowers, the cake, the banquet hall, everything.  it was very strange seeing jess in a wedding dress.  it was like she was playing dress-up and not really getting married.  practically every person in the church was crying.  except for me, of course.  and then later at the reception, jess's sister lyndsay made everyone turn on the waterworks again with her maid of honor speech.  i got to see ammar in a tux - very debonaire.  kevin sullivan was there and he did the worm in front of the entire party.  i was hugged by every one of jess's 489 uncles.  people kept calling me stephanie.  and rebecca.  i didn't really care, as i had downed about 17 rum & cokes by that point.  but i went from being sober to being end-of-the-night-drunk without a fun/crazy drunk in between.  i danced for approximately 30 seconds to a wrex-n-effex song from 6th grade.  the whole night was just very weird.  i think lauran put it best last night when she said:

"i can't believe they are real people now."  i know, i know.

so anyway, this is getting rather lengthy but i had one last piece of news.  the diet i attempted to put myself on didn't work, uh, at all.  so yesterday i signed up for weight watchers online.  today is the first day on it.  my stomach is making odd noises.  i have a rumbly in my tumbly.  if this works - or rather, WHEN this works (you like that positive outlook?!) i will be losing somewhere around 2 pounds a week.  that  means by, oh say, Drumminfest '05 i should be about 20 pounds less than i am right now.  and that is something to look forward to.
