i had a pretty eventful weekend.
friday night: went to see the wars with drennen, rob, and fab. i give it two thumbs up. yes, the dialogue left much to be desired. yes, certain parts were unecessarily rushed. not to mention that hayden christiansen can't really act. however the action scenes were totally kick ass, there were several battles of epic proportion that were awesome, ewan macgregor did a very good job working with the horrendous lines he was given, R2D2 was as punk rock as ever, jar jar binks was present for roughly 3 seconds, and i really think that now people can watch all 6 in chronological order without any real discrepancies. all in all i enjoyed myself thoroughly.
saturday night: went to see gang of four with nick, jon sklarz, and brad. gang of four is slightly...what's the right word?...disturbed. they do not seem like people i would ever want to hang out with for any length of time. but, i have never seen such ridiculously awesome dancing (by a lead singer) at a live show. a microwave got smashed with a metal bat, there were 3 encores, and they played the same song two and a half times because the drummer fucked it up the first time. it was a very interesting show. at the end they called us "lovely and beautiful fuckers." right back at you, buddies.
afterwards, me and brad went to a party at dan nocella's house. other than us, dan, sarah, matt, and drennen, every person there was about 18 years old. it made me really happy that i was not 18 anymore. and also that i was never like that even when i was 18. there was lots of making out and sandwich dancing (you know, one girl, two guys, dancing together...like a giant horrible sandwich). we got there at 1. we bought extra beer at 2 am. by 3 a bunch of the little jerks had stolen an entire case and driven away. by 4 i wanted to go home. by 5 i was watching everyone play asshole. by 6 i was driving home, and by 7:30 i was walking into my front door.
i slept until 3:30 yesterday afternoon, and then watched all 3 hours of fiddler on the roof. i have seen that movie a hundred times, and yet i will still sit through the entire thing. oh anatevka, how you let my jewy roots shine through.
i also watched extreme makeover: home edition. does anyone else notice that you cannot watch that show without crying your eyes out?? i'm not a crier. i only do it bi-annually, and only in extreme circumstances. but lord almighty, that show is too much! it has a very cathartic effect, i think.
