this beautiful dog showed up on our doorstep this morning.... at first he was really shy and aloof, but the moment the kids went outside he became friendly and open. I can't keep this dog. He would obviously be a wonderful house pet because he's quiet and good with kids. The problem is... he's a pit. At the very least a pit mix. Now that's not a problem for me, but I'm worried about taking him to a pound or shelter in case they're like "he's a pit? we'll have to "check" him for aggressive behavior" which almost always ends up in euthanization.

at the very least, can anyone name some good no-kill shelters? especially ones that are open tomorrow (sunday).. my parents won't let me keep him in the yard and I don't want this little guy getting ran over or lost again. (By the way, we are almost 100% this dog is a dropoff- it happens a lot in this area and people have said that a bunch of dogs with huge collars were dropped off last week. This dog has a huge collar on and no one in our area has ever seen him before so...)

it would be the best if we could just find a good home for him, though. :) he's unneutered. This is what he looks like:

if anyone has any information that would be useful for me, thank you!
