bleh i am bored at work again i should just go read or something but then i wont know if mike emails me something to do. i guess i would probably check again in like 10 mins so it doesnt really matter all that much but anyways.. i think i need a new job, and that is that. i dont know if i should get really into looking on this computer here? i ( Read more... )

heehee.. i saw a pic this summer (it was the one that turned out to be right next to the article about joel, maybe thats why it stayed in my head so well) i dont know how you go about starting to live on a houseboat but it sounded intriguing to me!!

haha oh yea. i thought you were saying that you found a job listing that involved living on a houseboat in woods hole. perfect, i thought! my mom's friend julie's sister and family lived on a houseboat (in casco bay no less) for a while...i can get you their number....

Woods hole is a fun little town. Boring as hell in the winter, though.

yeah i would imagine so i guess. i want a car and a kayak too. but i dont know what i would need for the winter. if i had to ask anyone though you would be the first!! what do ya do anyways!

hmmm..I don't know how a houseboats work in the winter. I know a lot of people take their boats out of the water in the winter in that area. Not everybody does that though and houseboats may be different. You'd probably have to rent a slot at a marina or something. There's a nice sheltered pond in the center of town that connects to the harbor, but I have no idea how hard it is to get space there. An upside to living in a place like that year round is that the year round people usually get preferential treatment for that sort of thing.

hmmmm... i also meant though in response to it being a boring town in the winter.. what do you DO? in the winter? fairbanks cant be much more of a happening spot, so whats the routine like?

it's all good.

when winter comes closer i'll have to have a hot boozelate party, where we just have a table full of crap to dump into mugs of freshly-made hot chocolate.

and there can be video games, and blankets, and snow outside.

ooh! that sounds fun. I should be back on the East Coast by the time it snows there. There's lot's of fun hot alcoholic beverages. Hot buttered rum and hot spiced wine are pretty good. Then there was this german guy here who made something called "fire tongs punch" every year for new years.
