So glad I friended you, or else I would have missed this! Gaaaah, so hot! I agree, this needed to be written! My only criticism is that it was too short. :( But incredibly hot. I always admire people who can put so much hotness and angst and beauty in just a few paragraphs (because I'm a horrible rambler when I write ;)). Thanks so much, you made at least one person very happy with this. :)
(I don't think anyone would mind if you advertised this in the Basterds comms, there are enough August fans hanging around there. Would be a pity if this went unnoticed.)

Well, I'm glad you're around to read it. :)

The reason it's so short is because I didn't want to mess around with the canon too much. If I wrote anymore, Günther would've realised that Paul was meant for him, and my inner masochist likes the ending too much to do that. ;p And I'm happy that, in spite of the brevity, it still made you happy.

sevenwindows suggested that I should post it over at iheartcinemaah, so I think I'll x-post over there in the not-too-distant future. I still wish that this movie had an actual fandom though. Not necessarily to have more people read this, but just so that there is more Paul/Günther out there, because I need it quite badly.

Thanks for reading.

The ending is beautiful, yes ... but still, I wouldn't mind an AU in which they realise that they're meant for each other. ;)

Mhm, you could also ask if you can post it on operation_kino - the comm is all in favour of RPF, so I don't think they'd mind fics about other movies our dearest actors were in. I don't know, I'm not the mod, it's just an idea. ;)
I know what you mean. :( There are so many movies that desperately need a fandom. I'm currently watching an amazing Russian TV movie that's so full of slash it makes me dizzy, but the few fanfics that exist are in Russian, and since I only just started learning Russian I can't read them. :(

Thanks for writing. :)

I'm half-tempted to write something set prior to the events of the movie, centred around how they became "friends" or something, and possibly go in an AU direction from there. I'm sure an AU set within the movie could work, but, like Paul said, Günther was already gone before they had even left school for the summer house.

I might PM wickedground, and ask her about it. And hey, if it's exposed to more people, maybe more people will be inspired to watch it or something.

Also, you're learning Russian? That's awesome :)

That would be awesome. "friends", eh? They definitely need more slash. I just suggested an AU within the movie because I wasn't sure whether you wanted to write a longer story about them or not. ;) I told you that I like my happy, fluffy endings (after loads of angst, obviously).

I'd be surprised if she said no. And I think quite a few people in the comms have already watched it. They will want slash. :)

Heh, thanks. :) I love Russian, it's so beautiful. And the grammar is insanely complicated, which makes my grammar nerd happy. :) Not to mention that they have slashy TV shows. ;)

Oh yes, if this story is eventually written, it will be a long and deep exploration of their "friendship". *coughs*

Not to mention that they have slashy TV shows.
This is by far the most important reason to learn Russian, or indeed any language.

Yess, their very intimate and intense "friendship" ... which they express in many different ways. *serious nod*

So true. ^^ Seriously, I feel tempted to write it myself, but nobody will read it. ;) But they're eyesexing the whole bloody time. Watch the first 45 seconds of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVSJUmba7Kc And it's just one of many scenes in which they undress each other with their eyes. Give it a try, these 40 seconds should convert anyone to this pairing. ;)

I'll admit it, I had to watch that clip twice. The first time I didn't pay any attention to the eye-sexing, because I was distracted by the Nazi uniform (I swear, Basterds fandom is eating my brain far more than any other fandom I have been in), but on the second viewing, I definitely see your point. Indeed, how could one not see it, the slash is pretty much dancing around in a tutu and playing castinets.

I know exactly what you mean. The uniform kills me every time. It's a pity his boss usually wears a suit instead of his uniform. But, guh, Stierlitz (the guy in uniform) is so damn hot. And he also has the porn-smoking-skill. ;) Love your description of the slash dancing around. ;) In another scene his boss says, "I need you, Stierlitz", while giving him his usual "I wanna do you"-look. Consider my brain fried. Need fic. ;)

You're making me want to see this movie now. I hope you're satisfied. ;)

I am. ;) I'll ask my friend for the download links and send them to you later. ;) I have to warn you, though, it's in 12 parts and very slow-paced; I don't know if that's your kind of thing. But in my opinion Stierlitz' hotness and the general slashiness make up for that. ;)

Sooo, propaganda! She posted the download links on her journal: http://assassin-nariel.livejournal.com/18131.html Very simple: download, watch, squee at the slash, the uniforms, the boots, the LEATHER COATS, the smoking porn ... erm, I'm getting carried away ... yeah, ignore the slow-pacedness, and then write fic. :)

(Also ... I ship Stierlitz/Hellstrom. Rawr.)

Awesome. :D I have no issues with slow-pacing, and really, I doubt that I'll notice it, with all of those incentives that you have listed.

Well, sometimes you get five minutes of propaganda stuff about the glorious Red Army, completely unrelated to the plot. It gets a bit annoying after a while. But whenever it actually is about Stierlitz, it's really great. :) Tell me how you like it, once you've watched it. :) (And then write slash. :P)
