A post in which I ramble too much, but at least there are pictures...

I finally got around to answering those "Top 5 fandom things" some of you asked me to complete a week or so ago. They are all answered in this one post, and have bonus pictures and youtube videos, so to say this is a longish post would be a bit of an understatement. Thanks for asking such brilliant questions, dudes, I had a lot of fun answering ( Read more... )

Darlin, you have the best answers for these lists ever! I cannot argue with a single one. I love that you didn't just choose songs, foods, bands etc - you gave each one such a personal and particular reason for your choice. It's such a pleasure reading this.
I particularly agree with you 1st choice for JD song. It's my favorite as well. I never tire of listening to it. Sometimes on your Ipod, you might skip over a song you do like but aren't in the mood for - it never happens with Control.
LOM quotes would take me forever to post about because there are so many to choose from. And in your favorite quote, I agree that it's not really that funny a line, but it's because of John's delivery that always makes me laugh. And for #2 - I do like the following line "How dare you come in here." Gene: "You could've said that to the boy."
As for the answers to my top 5 - I love them all. My mother asked me if I would've gone to Woodstock if I had been old enough and I answered her simply "Mother, I have a peace symbol tattoo on my ankle. What do you think the answer is to that?"
Bowie - My greatest wish is that he will go on tour again. I'd sell a kidney to see that genius. But if I had to go back in time to see him, I would come get you and we would see Ziggy Stardust together:)(We'd put the Tardis in a safe place, of course.)
Ah, the Pixies - one of my favorite bands ever! I've seen them about 8 times and they never disappoint. I nearly wore out my copy of Surfer Rosa, I played it so many times. Waaay back in the days of cassettes, that is.
Great job again hon.

Awww! Thanks, babe. It's something I can't help, if I like something, then I have to blather on about it. ;) I'm glad you found pleasure in reading it!

There is just something about She's Lost Control. I listen to both the album version and this live recording I have entirely too much, and it doesn't lose that edge in either version. The album version is more dark and melancholic, but there is this immediacy about the live version, a sort of desperate panic, that clearly illustrates just how much Ian could relate to those lyrics due to his own issues with Epilepsy.

The LoM quotes took me ages. In the end, I just had to choose the five that made me laugh the most, although I could easily have made a separate list of the quotes that effected me the most, and yet another one about quotes that summarise the series for me. I like the following lines for #2 as well, but I decided that I would only keep each choice to maximum length of two lines, and that was the line that makes me laugh the most.

I think if you have any interest in rock music whatsoever, you would want to have been at Woodstock. It's the definitive rock event, really.

I'd sell almost anything to be able to see Bowie live, even now, but the Ziggy Stardust era will always hold a special place in my heart. And if either of us managed to acquire a TARDIS, can you imagine all of the gigs we would be able to go and see together?
