I saw The Boat That Rocked last night, and I only have one thing to say really.

BILL NIGHY IS GOD!!!

Sure it was good (even if it was could have done with a heavy edit, the characters were written too broadly and it was a smidgen misogynistic - even though it was more to reflect of the era than anything else), but in all honesty there were two things I took away from it more than anything else - that the music was awesome (there was this montage of record covers from the last 40 or so years just before the credits, and while I didn't see Joy Division, they featured the cover of London Calling by The Clash. It was awesome.), and that I possibly have a crush on Bill Nighy of the size that is not necessarily healthy.) It wasn't the greatest movie by any stretch, but the cast made it so much fun to watch.

In other less awesome news, I also saw the trailer for the State of Play movie, and I'm not even sure I'm going to see it for Jason Bateman now. It was kind of horrid, and as much as I don't like Russell Crowe appearance as Cal, it's Ben Affleck as Stephen Collins that is of more concern. Watching him in the trailer was almost as riveting as watching paint dry.

Although, after seeing the trailer and also seeing Bill Nighy, I really want to re-watch State of Play. Again.

bill nighy is god, music, miscellaneous movies, state of play, squee
